As an employer, here are a few thoughts from my experience that may be helpful: - Everyone prefers to hire from who they know. You think about it, why would you hire a stranger when you can hire someone from within your network. That way if things go wrong, you can go back to your contact and say, why did you recommend that person to me. It's risk mitigation. - Following the above, seek to enlarge your network. Sitting at home twiddling your thumbs will not enlarge your network. Networks can both be online and offline. I recently hired someone who contacted me for some research for her Msc dissertation. As soon as she finished, I hired her. I also met someone recently online and now we're starting a business together. So be wise and use resources at you disposal to connect with serious forward thinking people. - Be always engaged and do things excellently. It's in the process of doing excellent things that people will get exposed to you. I've lost 2 employees to multinational companies simply because they were doing their jobs well. Others I've had to let go and they often struggle to be re-employed because they have a poor attitude to work. - Going int to business is hard too and is not for everyone so resist the advice to start a business just for the sake of it. You can, however, learn to use your hands or mind for small extra income. IT will serve you well and demonstrate to others a responsible mentality. Apply these, don't be idle, work hard wherever you are. God and people will see your effort and bless you. You will also stand out from most people because the average person is actually lazy and doesn't care much unless they have to. On that note, I would like to say we're hiring a business development and admin officer. We like young hard working people. You will learn a lot and grow in many ways. We value loyalty and integrity so if you don't have those, don't bother. E-mail with a CV and cover letter: abujadatacollection@gmail.com 12 Likes 5 Shares |

My pain as a graduate is people criticizing my choice of course (Zoology) and telling me I'm hopeless and I'm as good as I haven't gone to school at all. it's frustrating and demoralizing. I have been to several people and places and mere seeing my qualifications, there first response is " I hope you know this is not a Zoo". Well life goes on anyway and suicide is not an option for me, cos life is a gift, and I intend to make the best outta of it till my last breath. Graduated from ABU Zaria in 2012, my objective is to prove all this doubters wrong and to show dem I can make a life in this field, and hopefully provide opportunities for others in my situation and those after me. Zoologist are intelligent people, they don't have brains for raising chimps and Monkeys alone. They use strategies, proper planning, pure and advance scientific method for solving problems. Their knowledge of animal behavior, development, and physiology makes Zoologists wonderful human resource managers. Zoologist are not archaic and sedentary, zoologist are IT savvy as as well and are in-tune with modernization , no life sciences can exist this days without bioinformatics, which involves advance programming language, diverse computer applications and lots data gathering which would be curated. In Heath care, zoologists are not left out, from parasitology, helminthology, virology, epidemiology and all other laboratory practices, they are also competent. I am one of those..... I have good grades as well (if that's what you looking for) I have PGD in Education, my Msc in Cell Biology and Genetics ,the field I'm most excited about out of all others. Where I get to discover the powerful secrets the creator ingrained in humans and other animals...my plan is to be a genetic counselor someday in the future. But right now I still need a job and that will not happen if employers think I only have knowledge for raising chimpanzees and Zebras. Thanks for reading my epistle.. lol, seriously now, my mail is ajidepromise@gmail.com |

I am a graduate of industrial Chemistry with over 3 years teaching experience. I finished my NYSC in 2014. Challenge i have is that i don't feel too fulfilled as a Chemistry intsructor. I fear i might lose my chemistry degree relevance with time as i am not in tune with recent scientific procedures and laboratory practices. I have excellent theoretical knowledge of; instrumental method of analysis, separation techique, gravimetry, chromatographic procedures, spectroscopy, environmental chemistry (water pollution, treatment and control), organic reactions and mechanism, stoichometry and safety laboratory practices. Would really be grateful if any one can link me up to a good company as an intern or volunteer to help kickstart my career dream. Thanks in anticipation |

I graduated in 2012, concluded my service in 2014. I taught at a primary school immediately after service. Got a job at an Insurance Brokering Firm in 2015. The pay is not encouraging when you consider the cost of living in Lagos; transport, rent and others. As it is; I'm only gathering experience because I'm surviving with the grace of God. Nothing is usually left at the end of the month to save so that I can enroll for ICAN. I also have passion for small business (buying & selling, small scale farming and computer services) but no capital to venture yet. My wife also works with a school presently and the working condition is nothing to write home about, despite the peanut she earns, she has just been paid her December Salary few days ago. |

Thank you OP... I studied Statistics at OOU, Ago Iwoye graduated in year 2012, obeyed the clarion call in Imo State in 2014/2015 and I currently reside in Ibadan. I started a betting shop #Surebet247 in Ibadan with my savings during my NYSC and I was running it smoothly not until big shops were opened by other bookies and in the process I lost my customers as they preferred the big shops with Dstv and virtual games to my small shop. I tried to contend with the big shops for sometime but as recession bite harder and cost of running the small shop increases beyond my income, I lost out around July 2016. Since then have been trying to get a job to survive and hopefully upgrade my shop to a standard level. I will be glad if I can get a job preferably in Ibadan. I understand MS Office and I also know how to fix computer, a good customer service experience. My email is harbeeorlar@yahoo.com Thank you |
