This is a difficult thread for me to write. I struggled with this issue for a long time. However, at the end of the day, truth is reality and you can never escape from it.

Despite the current national uproar caused by the activities of Ipob and their leader Kanu, many non-Igbos still are under the impression that Igbos, in general, see themselves as Nigerians. This assumption is largely due to the fact that we all live together in the same country. Go to church. Go to market. date and Marry each other in the same country. The truth is Igbos do not love Nigeria. Igbos do not like the idea of multi-culturalism. Igbos are only comfortable in a country where they are the ONLY cultural majority. This is the sole reason why they love to express hate for the other two majority tribes. The first military coup was carried out by Igbos because (despite the fact that held disproportionate leadership positions across the country) they still were not satisfied and wanted to control EVERYTHING. Well, we know what followed. The pogrom and then the infamous civil war that led to the death of 3 million souls (by some account).

Here is the truth that many Nigerians are not recognizing. There are two types of Igbos: Those who radically want Biafra and those who seek a smooth transition to Biafra. The radicals (Ipob/Kanu, Massob etc.) are largely driven by tribal supremacy (a believe that Igbos are superior Jews living among inferior Africans) and seek Biafra by ANY MEANS NECESSARY with little on no regard to its effects on anybody including the Igbos living in non-Igbo parts of the country. The moderates also seek Biafra however they want to make sure that it is done in such a way that another war does not ensue as a result. Also, this moderate wing, do not want a situation where the Igbos residing in the North and the SW are forcefully deported to the East in the event of the actualization of Biafra. This business conscious Igbos want to have a homeland but at the same time want to continue to enjoy the business benefits of the Nigeria they hate so much.

If Nigeria must survive as a country it is imperative that Igbos are carved out of our map. Igbos will NEVER stop trying to break up this country because Igbos don't believe in multi-culturalism. They are tribal supremacists and will never be satisfied UNTIL every other tribe bows down to them. This of course will never happen, hence the need for Igbos to have their own country.

I will also suggest that the new Nigeria (current Nigeria minus Igbos) should carry out a humane deportation of all Igbos who refused to move out after the Igbos get their homeland. If we allow them to stay, they would continue to cause tribalism/division as they are doing right now.

You have to start facing reality, you have no nation. Just because a British opportunist called Lugard came to West Africa, drew a map, and his wife named the place after a River, does not give you a nation.

You have to also respect the right of people to self determination. Even Britain that created this country and made you a Nigerian was willing to break up when it granted Scotland a referendum in 2014. So why cant Nigeria respect the right of Igbos to exit this British colonial creation?
