Why Northern Youths Gave Ultimatum To Igbos- Ex-aig by Everfrank(op): 1:08am On Jun 16, 2017
Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Ambrose Aisabo has attributed the recent ultimatum given by some northern youths to Igbos to vacate their land to the continuous agitation and call for secession by some Igbo groups in the country.

He said the recent sit-at-home observed in the south-east as ordered by Biafran agitators should not have been allowed to happen, noting that government should have moved against those who gave the order.
Speaking with Daily Trust, the former AIG and public affairs commentator said the Igbo youths instigated their northern counterparts to give the ultimatum, saying, “It takes two to tango”.
However, the security expert observed that the northern youths over-reacted by the ultimatum because not only Igbos stay in the South East.
He also said those beating the drums of war failed to realize that no country ever survives two civil wars. He specifically advised the Igbo agitators to stop the ceaseless calls for recession especially when their kinsmen and women are all over the country with their investments which took them years to garner.
“One thing I know is that apart from Igbos and the north, no country can survive two civil wars. Igbos are living in the glass house and throwing stones”, he said.
While government should rein in any group of people beating the drums of war, the ex-AIG stressed the need for government to hearken to the call for restructuring to reduce the attraction for power especially at the centre.
He added, “No Nigerian is praying for disintegration. Anyone praying for Nigeria to break up, the loss would be too much. Let those IPOP, MASSOB stop beating the drums of war because no country survives two civil wars because once it happens, you don’t know when and where it would end”.
Aisabo commended the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo for his meeting with leaders of different ethnic groups in the country, described the move as a confidence building measure to calm sprayed nerves.
“The meeting is a step in the right direction, a proactive measure and confidence building mechanism, meeting different zones in the country and political groups because the way things are going, you don’t know what would happen. And it appears majority of Nigerians are supporting this restructuring, restructure the country so that the centre would no longer be too attractive for anybody”, he said.

The North has more to lose than the Igbo

That is why they are trying to keep Nigeria united so they won't be landlocked.

For me, I think it's a tad too late to try to convince the IPOB and by extension the entire Igbo nation to tow the path of restructuring the system after killing their sons and daughters for virtually no reason, NNAMDI KANU would have more likely considered the option of restructuring had people not been killed but he's gone to far to just abandon the struggle. He'd rather die fighting.

Inevitable is here like I always say if you kill all ibos, the the break away ideal will still be there.i don't see Nigeria hold on together for the next decade.
We all want united Nigeria but ibos has gone far for their agitation, hence , it will be ridiculous to succumbed to any pressure when their minds already made up.

Forget these Northerners. Their real frustration is that they have not managed to intimidate Igbos they way they have intimidated Yorubas. It is an affront to their 'born to rule' mentality that Igbos are still agitating for Biafra. They thought by now they would be using Igbos as door mat since they won the war. Thats why they see the 30th of May as defiance to their imperial rule. So they retaliated and asked the Igbos to go home. Frustration is killing the Northerners. The Igbos are irritating them with Biafran agitation, they are irritated by Osibanjos rising profile, they are frustrated by Buhari being sick.

The North had better get used to being frustrated because nothing is going to stop Igbos pulling out of Nigeria.

you have summarized the northerners, the best strategy for them right now is for buhari to resign or give up contesting in 2019 and in return the north would produce the vice president to osibanjo but their born to rule mentality wouldn't allow them rather they're trying to mount pressure on osibanjo not to contest in 2019 so that the north would retain the presidency. unfortunately, they may succeed.Biafrans are better off in a sovereign nation of ours, Nigeria would never experience growth and development rather she would be experiencing retrogression while other nations leave her behind. that have been her story since independence, that is her story today and judging by all indices, that would be her story into the forseable future.
