WhatsApp is one of the most popular cross-platform messaging service on earth that's used to send billions of text messages every day.

It's available on a wide range of platforms however the Facebook-owned company has also been scaling down its existence on platforms that are no more relevant.

BlackBerry 10, as well as BBOS, are two such platforms which WhatsApp has explained that it will end support for all of them come June 30th.

"These platforms don't provide the sort of capabilities we need to increase our app's features in the years to come," is the reason that WhatsApp has considered ending support for these platforms. It's throwing similar treatment to the Nokia S40 as well as Symbian S60 platforms.

WhatsApp advises that users who will no longer have the capacity to access the service on their BlackBerry phones should change their phones to one that's at least run by Android 2.3.3, iOS 7 or even Windows Phone 8. It has also published guides on how you can transfer chat history directly from BlackBerry OS and BB10 to other phones through email.

The move to suspend support for BlackBerry was in fact made at the beginning of last year. The firm intended to end support by December 2016 but based on the remarks it got from the online community, it came to the conclusion to extend the deadline day to June 30, 2017. WhatsApp will not be accessible on these phones after the above-mentioned date.
