As we all know, WhatsApp was discontinuing support BlackBerry 7+ & BlackBerry 10 devices after June 30, 2017, this week WhatsApp co-founder, Brian Acton said, “We are going to extend BlackBerry through the end of 2017”. If you are amongst those BlackBerry loyals that were eagerly hoping for extension of WhatsApp support until you make a better decision on buying BlackBerry KEYone or move to supported smartphone, this news will surely give you a good break.


Note: all BlackBerry devices running our flavor of secure Android, including PRIV, DTEK50/60, and the new KEYone, will have access to WhatsApp indefinitely.

This is not the first time WhatsApp dropped the deadline for their support. Previously, WhatsApp was ending support for BlackBerry 7 & BlackBerry 10 devices on December 31st, 2016.

Supported devices:  

Android 2.3.3+ (includes BlackBerry PRIV, BlackBerry DTEK50/60 and BlackBerry KEYone)
Windows Phone 8+
iOS 7+
Supported until end of 2017:

Nokia S40
BlackBerry OS 7+
BlackBerry 10

OK nice update. I think its a welcome development considering the economic climate where people find it hard to afford three square meal not to talk of buying a new phone

It seems whatsapp have employee Liar Mohammed as their minister of misinformation. From Dec 2016 to July 2017 now is Dec 2018.

Blackberry Priv and Keyone will still run WhatsApp beyond Dec 2017 because they already have the Android version running on their platform.

See all the devices that have been removed from WhatsApp services and those that will continue to run WhatsApp

bb is one of the most secured os out there. android steals your information without your knowledge.
i bought a tecno w2 and every app i installed requested access to my camera, location, microphone, files, messages...
i deselected some and the app refused to work until i accepted all.
since i was security conscious, i gifted the phone and back to my bb10.

Is this news for real as my BB10 still tells me whatsapp expires on June 30th and I only saw this message here alone, so how credible is this news before I jubilate
