Sorry about this.

Am not cool with hourly calculated feeding. I feed when I see they are hungry or on a good interval.

What your son is experiencing is over feeding, now that was the same thing I experienced with my son then. He was always crying for food. And after feeding he would throw up the excess. Here is what the Paed. Advised and it worked:

feed very little quantity on a regular interval, I should ensure he is not well feed at a particular time.

2, ensure he belch and carry him on the shoulder for a. Few minutes before lying him down.

3, fold cloths into good shape nt too high and too low, rest. His head on it.

I was consciously doing these three, and I don't know when it all stopped.

Caution: as a first time mum with this, you need to be very at alert when he just finish eating and he wants to sleep, it can choke them. Ensure you practice the three above, you won't even know when it will stopped.

Thanks for the prompt response

Will do all that.

How often do you feed him?
I hope your baby doesn't have reflux. It may not really be over feeding.

Thanks for the prompt response

Going to the hospital today. We were told to ran some test.

The swelling takes time to go down . Just continue to manage your baby. As long as the place is not showing sign of infection it will improve.

Thanks ma'am

I suggest you read about reflux and mention it to your paediatrician on your next visit. Sometimes Nigerian doctors tend to forget some issues they don't handle frequently just like allergies in children.
What you described above looks like reflux and may not necessarily be caused by anything but just needs proper handling.
Read up on reflux and let's know what your doctor says.

Mamas I'm here again oooooo.

My baby boy has indigestion. He cries a lot at night and he doesn't sleep till day break.

I gave him food (breastfeed) in the morning which he vomitted everything after like two hours, some even came out from his nose. I quickly cleaned him up cos hubby too was scared ( we are first time parent)

Fast forward to the afternoon, I fed him again cos he was crying , immediately he burp, he vomittee everything again.

We noticed he will sleep a little, wake up cry , sleep back, wake up, cry and all that which was very unusual.

We had to take him to the hospital in the evening. The doctor we met examined him after I told her what brought us to the clinic. She touched his tommy and she said my baby is over fed and probably he doesn't burp before he is put to sleep.

She wrote some drugs and my hubby went to get them ......my baby as crying again and I decided to feed him , immediately he burp he vomitted again .

My questions:

Do anyone has that experience
How many hours interval should I breast feed him because I guess whenever he is crying, I would just feed him.

Please don't pass by......help a first time mum.

Thanks
it sounds like reflux to me sister. Does his breath smell if bile after the vomiting? Does he vomit with force?
My own two cents..... keep him upright after feeding. Do not overfeed him. Suggest reflux to your doctor though it could be wind in which case, wind him properly after everymeal and make sure he burps.
Good luck

I just read on reflux...... It is not what is happening to him. He is not forcefully vomiting.

Well, since we returned from the hospital, he has not vomited. I time him before feeding him sha.

So when he cries, I don't feed him immediately, I just rock him, and sometimes he sleep off

The drugs they gave you at the. Hospital, is/are it/they cough syrup(s)? If yes, please there is strong need to treat infection. They. Should run a test on him to know the cause of the cough, once the root is treated cough will go.

We were given vitamin C syrup and Axitin...Okay i will take him back to run a test, thanks

Abeg, all the good experts, my son likes corn flakes like kilode, hope it's ok for him? What I do is I use warm water to make it for him. He is over 13months, hope it's ok?

Its absolutely fine.

I give my dd cornflakes as well. I tend to crush mine up and add some baby rice to give a thicker consistency else my madam will drink all the milk and give you back the large soggy flakes. ! undecided

I'm not doubting you but if you actually read about reflux, you'll see it is an effortless spit up or vomiting in babies. I don't know where you saw forceful vomiting. Some reflux actually occurs because the digestive system is not fully developed and corrects itself with time.
I wish I can send you some links but please search babycenter and see other mums experience before they start loading your baby with medication. Thank you.

Mama, I think your baby has silent reflux. When you feed, make sure you burp him. Be patient. Make sure you get a BIG burp before setting him down. Also don't lie him down immediately he finishes feeding, If you have a rocker, put him in it for about 30 minutes before lying him down. Prop his head up lightly (don't put him to sleep like this, make sure you are observing him when he's propped up

I don't think it's overfeeding so far your feed on demand (i.e when he's hungry)

PS: I no be doctor oh, symptoms just sound like everything I've read on silent reflux. He should eventually outgrow it sha

Good morning moms! I need advice. I just noticed some rashes on my LO's thighs and just above his peepee. He's 3 weeks now, and his circumcision has healed completely. I ruled out diaper rash cus I change his diapers at least 4x everyday (night inclusive). My mind tells me it may be nlacha, but I have no idea what that looks like.

If it is nlacha, can palm kernel oil solve it? He's still too young for creams (Jos is cold!!) so we still use vaseline blue seal. I'm confused as to whether to mix it with skineal or some other topical ointments.

Pls help?

So I noticed that after treating malaria, LOs appetite is still not back to normal, plus the rashes came back so I took him to our original hospital (The day the fever started, it was almost 11pm and Hubs wasn't at home so I took him to hospital 2 - one place in the area that Hubs hates for no reason)

They asked a couple of questions and retested for malaria, guess what? Still one plus, same as when we started treating cry cry cry

I don't know if it's fake drugs they gave me, or it's stubborn malaria, they sha gave us chloroquine to treat this one. I have to give him a whole 7.5ml everyday and that shxt is bitter (I tasted it)

Hubs is convinced it's fake drugs and has put his foot down, I must not take his son there again (I kuku don't like that place, blah blah blah undecided)

Mumsi is convinced all of this is teething (I tend to agree cos his finger is always in his mouth now and he seems to be biting down not sucking it) but malaria dey ff teething?

Me I just want my LO to eat properly! He's laughing and playing as usual but I see him struggling with 150mls and it breaks my heart

Anyway I'm at work now and he's with Mumsi. I'll soon close and cuddle my baby

PS: I tried to microwave bread this morning (it was in the fridge) and the thing started burning, the whole office was smelling and safety came. MzMyColi na your head catch me?

PPS: Maybe I should open diary, my story is too much for this place

PPPS: I need advise on this malaria meds thing. They gave us coartem dispersible in the first hospital, now chloroquine...shey no issue? cc mamas that know wassup and are online

Do you mean 4 diaper changes all through the 24hours of a day? (Meaning he wears each for not less than 6hours or thereabout atimes).
If yes, then I don't think you should rule out diaper rash just yet.
Or do you air his bum some of the times or practice other diapering strategies?
He's only 3weeks old and from what I know, newborns should use a lot of diapers in those initial periods, like almost 10-15 a day (way beyond 4 diapers).
So wait other mamas will soon come & contribute.

Thanks Mumsy.

He has not vomited since I came back from the hospital yesterday. I guess I have to make him burp before putting him down and I have to rock him a while before he sleeps, it has worked for me since last night.

We ran some test this morning.

FBC - Full blood count. Mp - Malaria parasite. ESR - Erythrocyte sedimentation rate.

Everything was okay.

Thank you mothers for your concerns.

Hunniesuzzie, I wanted to laff but our bobo's health no let me laugh heartily.

He'll be fine, inugo.

I know he will be.

For the rashes, if it's not itching him, don't worry yourself much.

It is even better to allow these things go by theirselves, so the body develops a natural way of fighting them.

Just use your normal soap and powder, except your instincts tell you differently.

I ditched antibiotics. I have decided not to use them on her again. You can too.

Pray for him, and maintain a positive outlook. speak to him in faith...that he is whole. The gift of God almighty makes rich and does not add sorrow.

If you believe in Guardian angels, try to quiet your mind from worries and politely request their assistance.

Bless Sis.

My baby is just 4 weeks. He is just vomiting the milk. I'm on ebf.
Like other mamas have said burp him and try to hold him in a way that you are not putting too much pressure on his tummy. He will be fine. My son did that too had to change my clothes 2 to 3 times a day cos he must bring up milk after eating . But it has reduced now

Lolzzz, hospitals and their wahala. Just coming back from hospital tho my dd have malaria +++, terrible plus ooo. Showed the Dr the results, he explained everything and asked me the medicines I've at home.
I mentioned everything :
Lonart suspension
Piriton
Citramin
Neurofin &
Well-kid.

Doctor said ok, scribbled their normal signature on the file said I should take it to the pharmacy stand.

Gave the pharmacist the file, sat down peacefully waiting for them to calculate and tell me the amount. The cashier called me and told me everything ma is 11k. I screamed for what?? She said I should discuss with the pharmacist, I dragged myself oo to ask him. He told me for injection and drugs. I said drugs ke, please which drug again. That's how the man refused to tell me, hospital policy. I went back to the doctor office (they were shouting that I can't enter like that). I asked him what drugs did he wrote for my daughter, that I don't understand what the pharmacist is saying. He started explaining that he wrote antimalarial drugs, cough syrup, vit c and auglocef (that she has a lil trace of infection)

He was the same doctor I told drugs I've at home oo, abi is my fridge now a pharmacy shop. He later apologized and canceled everything but auglocef.

That's how I finally paid 5k. What if I didn't ask questions or know chigigbam about drugs. That's how I'll overdose my pikin belle or troway money like that.

Coartem is good, please stop the chloroquine some are allergic to it. I've rashes on my body anytime I take it, I'll scratch shit out of myself.

How I go do now? So I was told my MIL and my mum ooo. I can't even tell them about the puss because they wil blame and crucify me. I read online that one of the causes could be bottle feeding baby while he is lying down. That is why I'm feeling whether its true

Your baby might have an ear infection. There is a style to feeding a baby while lying down. You have to elevate their heads well. What i do is put their heads on my arm and then raise with a breastfeeding pillow or normal pillow put in an angle. I started lying down to breastfeed from Day 1 my baby was born and i have not had issues. Maybe that as he grew older, the weight of his head on my arm causes it to spasm.

Take your baby to the hospital for antibiotics.

The palm kernel oil u are using might not be original probably mixed. I use the yoruba black soap and palm kernel oil for my son and its very good my son had baby acne all over his body when I used coconut oil for him in the US when my hubby came and saw it he went bought aveeno products and aquaphor for him those things didn't work fast. As soon as my mum saw him she brought the palm kernel oil my DH& I refused that it will make him dark but we gave it a try. She said a 90yrs old woman in her shop made it and gave her cos she bought wrapper for her. No smell (even when he sweats cos he sweats alot) and it brought out my sons oyibo color and made his skin very smooth and fresh. Now my son and I is coke and fanta (cos i'm very dark in complexion) if not that some of my inlaw saw me pregnant and I gave birth with one of them there they would have said I bought baby cheesy. My neighbour just gave birth I gave her some and its bringing the baby's color out she was very dark at birth. My Dh is glad we used it.

The black soap prevent temp rise and stooling during teething I believe to an extent cos I never experienced any of those for my son now he has two teeth.

Lets I forget palm kernel oil is used for babies during raining season to prevent cold and catarrh.

Its very possible for 3mths old to be teething. My son's teeth came out at 3mths without stooling. Someone recommended yoruba black soap when he was 2months old that it makes teething less stressful for u and the baby. so I used it to bath him religiously and he didnt stool.

Yeah @Chanbaby, I used palm kernel oil too for my kids since birth till now. Infact I have fullly started using it now that rain has started and it can be so cold atimes. It doesn't smell. I atimes rob their whole body with it and pour a little in the centre of their head.

@Sansa123, it has its own odour but not offensive one. Use it for your kids, it prevent cold. Use it for their head and feet.
