Was in a training centre to inquire about their ccna training. They said as a starter, I must take Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) before I Can proceed to ccna. A+ is embedded in the ccna so I dont need to do it separately. What I dont understand is why MOS? Pls, must I take MOS to comprehend ccna? How do they relate? They might be trying to put unnecessary expenses on me.

I just told them I wanted to enrol for their ccna course but have no knowledge of I.T fundametals. She initially, suggested I take A+ before ccna. She later told me the instructor said A+ is embedded in the ccna that I should take MOS first.

Just contacted a friend who's a system engineeru and he said MOS has nothing to do with CCNA!

Any one can work in I.T if you have the passion and if possible the required cert. As a mother , hardware might not be to okay, find your speciality and work towards it. Dont do programming because it sounds cool for you to be called a programmer, rather do it for the PASSION.
P.S I read accounting and i work as an I.T Support in an organization and also have a CCENT Cert. Goodluck

Good. Software itself is wide. There is programming, database admin, web design and app development etc. Note that it may be easy to get certification but it is advance skills that will stand you out. And this require hands on training. Programming and Web development is the most lucrative.If you are not in an organization that uses programming language yet you can start with video tutorials on Php. It is open source and can be used to develop PC and android apps

MOS is not related to CCNA. It is even N+ not A+ that is related to CCNA. Even if you will not do N+, you can watche video tutorials. Also, for exam, make sure you go thru ICND track instead of jumping to CCNA directly.

That's great to know. Did you have knowledge of comptia A+ or N+ before enrolling for your training?

THE REASON IS THAT IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE SYSTEM ADMIN PATH AND NOT NETWORK ADMIN YOU MIGHT NEED MICROSOFT KNOWLEDGE BUT IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE NETWORK ADMIN PATH THE MICROSOFT CERT IS NOT NECESSARY FOR NOW

i got my certicicate online for that compatia A+ and u need it as a prerequisite before you venture into ccna .that is where u learn how to crimp wire.

young woman forget your discipline ,this certificate of a thing has crippled many people ambition instead of assisting .I am a geophysicist and i am studying CCNA and also studying web development online .everything is all about will power and the passion.FOR me u should get a personal pc first and go for icnd1 because it s not that bogus but web development ,application development ,ccna are very wide field .i guess u are married.
