Hard truth is that 1,001 peeps out there have more impressing profiles coupled with rich work experience obtained during active internship as an undergraduate, it is a whole competition on that level as well, not a rosy journey. In fact the expectations from such guys are extreme, they can be disqualified from a recruitment process for the slightest reasons and start doubting your abilities after all you are a 1st class material you should know why Buhari is sick and know this and know that.

GE takes people with lesser stuffs as well, my first stop was with GE and i did not have such academic qualification as at then, my degree was still in view at the time. Gods Grace works wonders, take that from me.

There exist a wide gap between school and an actual job.
Until that gap is bridged, an applicant can not negotiate his pay.

Yes, we agree but we know that in right economies, graduates with such qualifications don't have to keep throwing CVS up and down before someone picks them. Tho, he may be have to hunt for sometime given the state of the industry, He is a Talent regardless. @ second bolded Being a first class student may not necessarily mean you are a genius but it shows that one can be diligent and dedicated. Even if the Indepedents are not interested in his profile, the government of Nigeria should but sadly, it's not the case.

There use to be a scheme sponsored by the FGN for people with such qualifications to proceed on some exchange program overseas to further their education and upon return give back to the society by joining the civil service.
I am not too sure if this present administration still considers the program though.

There exist a gap between school and actual job... Yea, great. You are making a great mistake at negotiation. I have read about a Ph.d holder that had the recruitment go his way with shell during the usual SRD. Shell told him the usual we will get back to you, he told them No, he wants an update that evening that he is considering an offer else where. His offer came that evening, he declined on the basis of salary and that he his being offered more elsewhere. He had a review twice. Shell had to decline another raise the third time before he accepted the offer... The guy was that good. Point is knowing self worth is very important. What you will expect from a Uniport graduate is not what you will expect from MIT or Harvard graduate and these companies know that very well. So, if you know you are good with good qualifications from world choice universities. One can always negotiate pay as an entry level staff.

This is no longer true with the current GTP recruitment process they started in April this year. Whether you know the Minister of Petroleum (President Buhari) or the Shell MD in Nigeria is your father, it won't change anything in this current GTP setup.
NO BE NIGERIANS DEY RECRUIT YOU!
They now use the same standard for all the GTP globally, and provided they employ Nigerians (from North, South, East or West) they have fulfilled the local content act.
As far as Shell GTP is concerned, there is no longer a back door to the 'Diamond'.
N/B: Talking about Graduate Trainee Programme, people MAY still be able to sneak in their relatives into Shell through other forms of recruitment (experienced hires, menial jobs, safety roles, etc).

Jonathan was only sponsoring first class students from universities in Nigeria. I am not sure it was for foreign earned first degrees. Is it the same government that NDDC has refused to pay scholars. It's competitive everywhere but e get something wey no suppose dey happen!

I still have not received regret mail since last week Sunday though I might still get it as my undergraduate degree is less than 2013.

is screened in d following approach

a. Computer robots send u regret mail already
programmed based on your cognitive tests score
if it doesn't reach the cut off mark of your country

b. Same Computer robot will send u regret mail based on your personality test. U must have at least 4 positive feedback out of 6

c. This Computer robot also screens u based on your eye contact to the webcam or camera during
your interview.

Immediate regret mail most of u received at this stage is done by d robot. At a later date in d recruitment process, humans check your interview response, CV, job requirements and documents. Based on that, u will b invited for final stage which will involve online live interview and case study feedback.

Secondly, they have one of the best training schemes for graduate engineers. A family friend of mine spent 6 years as a field engineer at GE, today he is a Senior Manager at Transcorp warri. His salary is above 3.5million/per month
