EmekaMD:The post is far from reality as I have personally witnessed it before. Earlier this year, I had made up my mind to secure a land somewhere around Emene and I asked a lawyer friend at the office who believed it was a good idea. The long and short of it was an agent, my lawyer friend and another friend set out to inspect a land in the said area after an agent claimed there was a cheap land a family wanted to sell off. We got there, inspected it and felt uncomfortable as the land was overpriced. After so many talks, the agent asked my lawyer friend when he would be making payments so that he could inform the family that owns the land. My friend told him he wasn't the one interested that it was me. Immediately, he said it might not fly because he is not sure the family would want to transfer the property to a non-Igbo. I wasn't shocked really because I had been hearing of that a while. Frankly speaking, I didn't have enough cash at hand and had accessed a loan which was made open. Interestingly, the agent claimed I could buy it in the name of someone while the property remains mine, but who does that? Who buys a property in someone's name when he didn't launder or commit a crime? This happened in January and it has really left me puzzled. I hear there are a few non Igbo property owners here and I've been trying to figure out how they did it. For me, a pointer to all these which supports this weird practice is the chant of 'Anambra is the only state with indigenous companies cum manufacturers'. This in itself is an indication that something is wrong and outsiders are not entertained as they could be muscled out since the goal is for indigenous companies alone. A region, state, or a society would experience stunted growth if it is not open to outsiders, and I believe this is loud and clear enough. |

onyfrank:lol! Thruout my stay in benin,..the only yorubas I encountered were agbo jedi sellers, a few tailors and just one man selling talkin drums at lagos street.I hardly met a yoruba trader, much less a yoruba landlord. So benin is equally hostile to dem? I met hausa ppl alot, but only wheelbarrow pushers and multitude of laborers dat sleep at. Mosques. They won't even rent a room from benin landlords sef talkleSs of ownng a single plot of land. Benin is also not selling to strangers? |

Yoruba s I know, though very feel own properties in igbo, is not visible simply because is very few, major reason is because the don't have money.apart from abuja, Lagos and ph , property is more expensive in igbo land than other regions .another reason is fear of unknown |

OP land no dey for SE, you Igbo people are simply landless as in NO LAND. Even the tiny midget land suffers from erosion, land slides, muddy mess. And the local people look like hungry hyenas and cause a lot of fear reason some Igbos don't go home again. Wetin man go take land in such primitive place do? |

GavelSlam: . When I used to live in that Niggeria, I lived in Rivers state and I don't recall ever seeing a yoruba with a property anywhere in that state. Most of the Yorubas I met growing up were renting. I am highly highly suspicious of una claims considering I had a yoruba on this forum told me that people in miami worships yoruba and even speaks yoruba and when asked to tell me exactly where in miami that is so I can videotape it as verification, that Nigga swerved quick. I don't trust y'all claims ooo. Since during my years in Rivers state, I've never met a yoruba who owned properties in that state, therefore, where exactly is this plenty yoruba properties in PH so we can have Chino or even the guy you quoted videotape it and post as verification for us ooo. |

GavelSlam:You just said you know plenty of yoruba workers with properties in PH. Give us exactly where since most of us that lived or currently living in the state in question have never met such, story moves to "so they'll be attacked". Na who the f2k will attack them? If noone attacked them befpre, why would they be attacked now. Anyway, to be honest, I expected that post changing reply so not shocked |

smellingmenses:This is your answer..Forget your long story. The simple question to ask those who make this baseless claim is, if Igbos don't sell property to them, don't Edos, Efiks, Ijaws, Ur hobos, etc in the South-South sell to them too? How many lands and shops do Northerners and Westerners own in Calabar or Benin or Uyo or Warri, etc? How much property and stationary businesses do Northerners own in the Southwest outside Lagos (former capital)? How much property and businesses do Yorubas own in the North outside Abuja? The northerners that sell forex in Enugu...Do they do it on the streets? Don't they own shops and officers? It is a shame for old people to be lying...Honestly... |
| Re: Baseless Lies About Property In Igboland by Sanchez01: 7:34am On Jun 21, 2017 |
spyder880:Well, it did happen in Emene. The same Emene in Enugu East and I believe the reason is because most lands in the East (I stand to be corrected) are owned by families. Therefore, the families wield their little power over how they want the land to go to and so on. Truth is, I haven't tried again since then because it's needless. Should I feel itchy to do something as that again, truth is it wouldn't be here. Lands in Lagos are not controlled by families and should their be any, then be sure it is the local head of the community whose family wield power over the lands in the area. I make to Lagos because I understand how it is done there. |

sean1000x:I don't even care about this issue that much nor do I have hate. But next time you beat your chest, use more believable statistics like 30%, 40% or even 50% or 60%. Saying 99% takes away from your credibility thus making your claim seem unbelievable. |

Nicon luxury hotel own by a Yoruba man jimoh Ibrahim the best hotel in Abuja

EmekaMD:And why would I cook such up? For the first time in years, I spent Christmas away from my family just because of the January event I narrated. I wasn't supposed to let it out because it's personal but the truth is, the post is far from reality, and this is not an attempt to attack you guys. Unfortunately, I am not in any way seeking to buy one here again, because of the unrest flying around. Now would not be a good time to part away with money and end up losing it. |

Eastwalk:Too smart for your prank, forget your deceitful moniker, I know your chameleon style here, Igbos are richest tribe, most industrious, educated are most peaceful region to live in Nigeria, how can afonja agbo seller, carbucabu driver buy one plot of land of two million in Igbo village or 10-50 million in Igbo cities, that's why when our people tell them price they will think they hike the price because they are not indigene, our people buy same price and develop them, ask yourself why your kinsmen are busy selling their lands to Igbos in your domain because they know Igbos has the cash to buy or rent them at any price, have you ask why Yoruba landlord prefer Igbo tenant To avoid story that touch heart at the end of the year.

spyder880:Interesting. It should hag even been you then, instead of the family agent I met. For now, I am not thinking of walking that lane since the country is warming up. I'm sure things would have been a whole lot different if you were in the picture. However, the event had left me with the rumours I had long heard. |
