As a teacher I do share with my students the secret to my being literate, its fun though.
Now, lets know how you finally did it, I will lead by exanple;
throughout my nursery school days, I do imagine how I top the class in terms of scores even when I have little or no knowledge of what I was doing, fast forward to my primary one and finally to primary 3 when I entered into the hand of one 'wicked aunty' as she was reffered then, lol,
She gave us our first assignment which I forgot to do, immediately I stepped my foot into our compound, I threw my bag at God knows where, removed my clothe and never bothered to know where it landed, took my lunch and zoomed off to the play ground.
Got to school the next day and this very 'wicked aunty' nearly murdered me in class.
She gave another one, this time to go and read and memorize Edet lives in calabar, He is eight yrs old bla bla bla etc, my brothers and sisters I 'jejely' took the reader to my mum without any hesitation, mum was busy so I had to take it to my church where I saw one sister that offered to assist me, wow finally got it, read it like a boss infront of my buddies in class and ever since then, I started pickingup some words I saw from the passage, b4 one can say Jack I can finish a word of 250 in two seconds, ThankGod I am fast reader now, cant forget our 'wicked aunty' just looking for her for long now to show her some love, lol.

The first word I could pronounce and write was aeroplane, courtesy of my primary 1 teacher, Mr. Nwoku.

Met him some years ago when he was education commissioner in a south east state. And he remembered when I told him about our spelling sessions.
