Always carry along with you,Fire extinguisher,hydraulic jack and spare tyre.
Always make sure you check your radiator,oil gauge,fuel gauge and tyres before zooming off in the morning.
Always check that your car documents are always complete and updated.

Practice good maintenance; to be carried out by knowledgeable mechanic. Note every light on your dashboard to understand what they mean.
Have up to date vehicle documents: vehicle license, road worthiness cert and its back up, proof of ownership, insurance certificate and your driver's license at all times.
Spare tyre, Jack, Jack wrench, wheel Spanner, caution sign, fire extinguisher, rag.
Contact a mechanic anytime you notice unusual handling or sound.
Check oil and coolant (radiator water) level daily and take note of your tyre pressure.
By the way, stating car model will help other users give you peculiarities of the car.

That's a great choice for a first car- those things when taken care of, run pretty much forever ; I'm even looking for one for my sister.

If you dont mind me asking, whats the mileage on your baby? For a 13 year old car you might also have to look out for those stuff the manufacturer recommends are changed at a particular age/ mileage. Stuff like rubber gaskets, tubing, timing belt, water pump, in your case (most likely) differential juice, etc etc..

Keep the rubber side down!!

Congrats OP! Every one has been telling you same maintenance techniques to deploy in your car, same thing I am sure you must have known or see others do in their car since you have driven it for three months... But have you thought about security? Honda cars are easy pick for car theft! If you can not get a tracker, kuku enter car maintenance spare parts shop and get a steering-and-pedal lock, or gear lock and always use it when you are not close to your car and even at night... Believe me you wouldn't want to feel what I felt when my car was stolen six years ago and has remain so even with all police assurance for recovery! Although I moved on and got better ride afterward! Enjoy your new baby!

My own advice: Don't drive your car on that ejigbo road that was on FP yesterday..it is tantamount to car abuse. Tenk
