The only reason to keep DRC in a perpetual state of civil wars, political unrest and mercenary invasions is only to keep on exploiting her riches.

If DRC can become stable it will be the 10th largest world economy in less then 2 decades.

it could have being carrying american danab commandos,this is the first time to have seen a General dynamics Land Systems ILAV "Badger" in somalia. i haven't seen it being used by somalia national army or AMISOM forces

There is the possibility that it developed mechanical problems and the americans/somalis destroyed it to prevent its later recovery by the alshabab. It does not make sense for alshabab to be laying down IEDs near their bases

its seems so
the damage suffered by the vehicle is inconsistent with a IED blast(my personal opinion)

the roof is gone while there seems to be no penetration of the hull floor,

and the tires ,axles etc seems to be intact ,generally these r the first casualty of a IED blast

you guys want to make me laugh this morning,that there is no indication of penetration from the underbelly !do i need to show you the bloody clothing and surgical gloves left behind !?

if they show hull penetration than i am wrong as simple as that.

did i not mention it was a personal opinion and not some eternal/gospel truth

really u guys like to jump at everything with rhetoric,

rather than prove /show the point u want to make

funny thing even the suspension spring plates of the vehicle r intact (an IED blast of this intensity enough to destroy the roof would have surely destroyed them ).

unless they used a linear copper lined explosively formed penetrator (EFP) (in order to slice roof into 2 after destroying hull )

dont think thats possible (it requires high precision machining)

ps: do u know how anti-mine vehicles work against under hull blasts ,and importantly the shock wave and over pressure dispensation/distribution over the entire hull and attached parts.

anyways laughing is good for heath (within reason though )

darn i am stooped , that is one powerful and sophisticated IED

cant wrap my mind around the fact that it cut through the hull and roof like a directional charge

or (grins) the hole could have been from the airstrike , hole kinda seems small to me in relation to the havoc caused to the MRAP.

Wow! GODDAMMNNN! The first pic didn't show that giant crater tbh. As was said a few pages back there's a limit to the armour of any vehicle;an MRAP,APC even MBT will be destroyed if the charge is heavy enough. I've seen an Iraqi IED send a 60 ton Abrams flying. As nemesis2u said,you need a special purpose anti mine vehicle like this.
Alas! You can't tag it along on a quick raid!
