The earlier the people come to their senses and realize that our politicians are not working in the interest of the masses, the better for us all.

In time past, I use to think that those that are struggling with admissions are the ones who end up going outside of the country, it was later that I realised that students who have attended our public institutions most times exceeded their required time in school, they advice their younger ones to look elsewhere. I have been a victim of such delays and I am sure some students are still going through same.
The idea is this, we have been brainwashed to think the difficult way is the best way, that is not correct. I believe Nigeria education system needs a reform.

Abdullahi, who is also a former Minister of Sports, spoke in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Friday on the sidelines of a summit of the Nigerian Union of Teachers.

He said the British Council had reported that the number of Nigerian students studying abroad had increased by 75 per cent since 2002, with a current estimate of about 19,000.

Abdullahi said, “In the middle of this crisis, government interventions over the years have been business as usual at  best, and misguided at worst; indicating either a woeful lack of understanding of the problem or its sheer inability to apply the right measures of solution to bring about the desired turnaround.’’

The ex-minister stated that funding was about the most important issue in any conversation about education in Nigeria. He added that while government had argued over the years that it could not effectively fund education, the argument had become even more pertinent now that Nigeria is suffering from economic recession.

Abdullahi said, “Available statistics show that between 2000 and 2012, an estimated N800bn might have gone to the states in UBEC intervention alone. That is an average of N22bn to each of the states and the Federal Capital Territory.

“If we add other direct expenditure by the various state governments, this figure could go up to trillions of naira. Yet, evidence abound that the majority of our children completing basic education from our schools have not achieved the required standards in basic cognitive skills.”

You can earn a quality online Bachelors of engineering degree from the best Ghanaian Universities.

They make their educational system flexible for all but you as a foreigner pays the cost.

You can run an online 2yrs HND Top-Up degree program from Nigeria and then travel to Ghana for your final exams.

They also make education easy for their citizens.

The best university in Nigeria cannot be compared to that in Ghana.

Our educational system will become better if they all go online and offer professional courses.

With the increase in family demand, nobody wants to go back to school at the detriment of your job.

All big universities in Nigeria should be compelled to go online with better courses.

Our Universities run DLI programs on useless courses that will never help anyone.

I think the minster of education and our professors are intentionally killing the educational system.

I am even running a sound engineering program in Ghana at the moment but very flexible and from the comfort of my home.

In Nigeria, you must go back and write School cert if you happen to have interest in education at an advance age.

In some other countries, they give concession and just give you admission based on few test as a matured student.

That's why I said in my initial post that we need build more school and fix the ones we already have to accommodate more students due to our population instead of spending money on frivolous things like church and mosques or pilgrimage.
And scrap jamb wahala, let school pick their student based on their high school records like most standard schools do.

That will put an end to admission wahala.

You are right on the aspect of proliferation of religious ideologies at the expense of high tech laboratories in our institutions.
Jamb is another system built to bring unnecessary hardship to Nigerians.

My brother is the only one that did uni here. I'll choose Ghana over Nigeria anyday, anytime.
I'm not done with uni tho.

This is why we must allow our private higher education sector thrive. There is no reason we should spend such money if our country has enough good private universities. Anyway this should be a rethink for those who think private universities are too expensive. Nigerians most likely pay more in Ghana.

Unfortunately, Ghana's educational system is seemingly better than ours considering several factors that come into play.

No strike, no Fulani herdsmen invading the compounds and ransacking classes.

Probably, their lecturers don't even sort like ours do.

It is not only public universities that are in Nigeria.

Why we no go go Ghana, I wrote jamb 3 times and even added NCE result just to get admission, no way I think say them de do me for village, but as I migrated to Gh I now c sa Na Naija de do herself

What has building of churches as expressed as "proliferation of religious ideologies" got to do with Higher education. Its not as if the govt builds churches. Churches are built by private individuals with congregational finance. Also, right now there are as more Church universities as there are federal ones. So Churches always build universities. It seems Nigerians are always seeking to criticize the Church. If they build people would say it is expensive, if it is without quality but cheap, ppl would say who sent them. If they don't build at all ppl would say they are useless.

Sorry to say this, BUT apart from private institutions in Nigeria, public and state Universities are nothing to write home about.

More universities is not the issue, upgrade the standard of the existing ones and maintain it....only after this can we now say we need more.....
