Can you imagine? At his age. I wonder what he will be doing when he becomes an adult to get rid of anybody that seem to become an hindrance on his way up.

Plenty pertinent questions unanswered in a case like this cos really I don't expect a JS1 pupil to have started practicals for him to have access to the laboratory, ethanol and sulphuric acid can be very toxic and corrosive may even choke the boy if not handled properly, so who thought him how to handle such chemicals.

I can't believe this story just yet, an official statement is required from the school authorities to clarify the issue and not just say he's been expelled

Grading pupils and students at all level of education has been immemorial.

Not only in Nigeria...Of course every part of the globe...it encourages better performance

Parents should sit up to train their children in the way and fear of GOD..

But when a large percentage of the society is controlled by rulers and leaders.

fathers and mothers that are NOT only corrupt but greedy and ready to kill to acquire honour and positions,

what would their children do?

I know people who took first in our class, instead of working at shell now, they now have bald head.

So someone cannot carry out chemistry practicals again without being called jealous. He was practicalising esterification and only trying to produce Ethene gas inside his classmates water bottle.

A Junior Secondary School pupil I of the Lekki British International School, Lekki, Lagos, has been expelled for allegedly putting sulphuric acid and ethanol in the water bottle of his classmate.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the 12-year-old was envious of the 11-year-old female classmate, who had beaten him to the first position in the first and second terms.

The incident happened around 1.30pm on Wednesday, June 14.

The school was planning for the third term exam when the 12-year-old allegedly sneaked into the school’s laboratory and stole the acid and ethanol.

He was said to have mixed the chemicals and poured them into the 11-year-old’s water bottle.

Two pupils of the school reportedly caught him in the act and reported to the school management.

The suspect allegedly owned up to the crime, saying he had been planning it for sometime.

A member of the 11-year-old’s family said on Wednesday that despite the culprit’s confession, the school allowed him to sit for the third term examination.

When our correspondent contacted the school management, an official, who did not identify herself, said the pupil had been expelled.

She said, “The boy has been expelled with immediate effect. The girl is in school and she is fine. We have zero tolerance for such misbehaviour.”

We have all been bested in various endeavors including academics and sports; but not all of us went the route of attempted murder simply to come tops. If we all had that mindset, less than 10% of kids will be alive by the end of each term.
