My dear Nairalanders , it is with disappointment and shock that I'm creating this thread.

What do you know about DOUBLE SPENDING??
In my simple knowledge, it's a situation whereby the money sent to you was eventually reversed by the sender, normally after you have delivered the goods paid for.
Simply put, a customer sent money to you, you got the money in your account. All of a sudden, the money disappeared.

This is common with Bitcoins, as i have been scammed of up to to $1,000 through double spending before i learned how to allow 3 confirmations before accepting that the money is mine. I barely recovered from the shock.

Now, i got a shock of my life again, this time from our own Bank GTB.

I sold Bitcoin worth of N19,000 to a localbitcoins contact. The buyer sent the money to me and i got an alert on my phone, Email and APP. the money was sitting sitting comfortably in my account.
After confirmation, i released the Bitcoins to him. To my greatest surprise, after some minutes, i got another alert that the money has been REVERSED. The money was debited from my account instantly.

The same person sent me a trade of 50,000, the Alert as usual is sitting comfortably in my account, evidence from my app, but i have refused to release the coins to him for fear of the money being reversed again.

Does this mean that our own local banks are no longer safe to save our money because of fear of double spending??

Sir, let me just say you're the one doing business wrongly, some nigerians can't be trusted and that's where havung two accounts come in handy, receive money into your spare bank account and transfer it immediately to your main bank account before concluding the transaction, that's how i go about my business

So i have to go through all the stress? Tranfering money from bank to bank.
So bank alerts can't be trusted anymore..

Going through that small stress is way better than going through this #my1cent

Imagine the reply from GTB..

"Good day Sir/Madam,

We acknowledge receipt of your mail.

We regret any inconvenience you may have encountered.

Please be informed that the transaction failed and fund was reversed to the sender.

Kindly liaise with the sender to recoup funds.

Thank you for choosing Guaranty Trust Bank.

Just imagine the nonsense. Bank alerts are now to be questioned

I am planning to sue gtb bank. I made a transfer of #39, 000 via ATM to a diamond bank acct. But the money was never transferred to the account, nevertheless I was debited.


I have send countless complaints to the bank yet nothing has been done.

We've always advice our users to stay away from GTB.
They are the worst thing happening to the banking sector in Nigeria at the moment.

Well OP since u still have the guy money simply tell him d money reversed, haba no b today. Once service is not strong it may happen. Also gtb is d best bank as for me. Thanks

The buyer never talked to me till now even online on localbitcoins, i never released his bitcoins, the lbc mods resolved the dispute to me. I Gained more than i lost. Case closed
