Breaking News: 3rd Time In 2 months, Osun Doctors Hit Street In Protest, Demand 22 Months Unpaid Salaries

Doctors in the employment of Osun state government for the third time in the last two months, staged a peaceful protest in Osogbo, Osun state capital, demanding 22 months arrears of unpaid salaries.

As early as 7am, the protesters carrying placards with various inscriptions, asking government to pay them their salaries, had assembled in the premises of Lautech Teaching Hospital, Osogbo and peacefully marched to Olaiya Junction.

The doctors on May 4 and June 1 had staged similar walk around the state capital to protest unpaid salaries.

It would be recalled that twice last week, pensioners in the state were in streets protesting unpaid pension and gratuities by the state government, while UniOsun students on Wednesday shattered peace of the state capital, as they protested against incessant abduction and killing of their colleagues by ritualists.

The Federal Monthly allocatiion to the state is less than a billion Naira after deduction yet his major priority is project.

The state once received 6million naira as Allocation.

The next Osun Governor seriously needs a miracle to survive.

This is prime example of a state that should have declared bankruptcy by now. I wonder with all the agitations for split, how many geo-political zones are actually economically viable to fend for them selves?

Lets not deceive ourselves, everybody should put their state in order first and earn enough to pay salaries before talking of splitting or "re-structuring"

hahahah..and some ignorant fools are busy shouting restructuring....true federalism....Osun state like must states in the country goes to Abuja every month to collect free money and yet cannot pay Doctor for 22months...now how do you expect the states to pay the doctors in 22years if the restructuring requires them to generate their own money and pay a % to the FGN. ...Apart from states in Niger Delta , perhaps Lagos state ,any other person shouting restructuring dont know what it means.Thank you.

Reason I say the military created states anyhow.

No need splitting Kano, Oyo, Bendel, Imo, Anambra, Kwara, Ondo, Sokoto etc. Many of the new states are not sustainable.

We needed restructuring: bringing governance to LGA & ward level. Not creating new state executive bureaucracies/civil service that siphon state budgets.

My shock is why he still has suppoters.
Ask them what he has done for them are they start stammering.
Suffering and smiling.
Was with a woman in a bus some months ago and she said '' Aregbe ti so Osogbo di London'' (Aregbe has turned Osogbo to London). I almost wept.
