At least 5 buildings have collapsed in the fast developing towns around Owerri. Umuguma, Obinze, Ulakwo, Naze and Offorola all had collapsed building between Wednesday and Saturday. The reason is unusual heavy downpour as never witnessed in recent years.

This week alone a total of 5 buildings collapsed in imo state, that of oforrola was the most painful, the house wasn't planned initially for storey building, only for the owner to change his mind by erecting pillars to support the building, imagine pillars built with only white gravel, and when the owner was informed of the intending collapse,, instead of him to first rescue his children, he was busy removing his personal effects, unfortunately for him he was trapped with some of his family, while clutching to one of the bags that he was trying to remove.
