Kaduna—Middle Belt Patriotic Front, MBPF, has dissociated itself from the three-month notice to quit issued by a coalition of Arewa Youths to Igbo living in the northern part of the country, saying that it does not want to be associated with the North.


At a briefing in Kaduna yesterday, the group said states in the North-Central region and southern parts of Kaduna, Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe and Adamawa states should not be categorised as belonging to Northern Nigeria. Spokesman of the group, Nasiru Jagaba, said as a key region in the country, which paid heavily in fighting for the unity of Nigeria, it cannot fold its arms and watch events degenerate into another civil war. His words: “For the avoidance of doubt, any recourse to threat on any of our brothers from other regions will be met with stiff resistance from the Middle Belt. “We also condemn, in the strongest terms, the perceived patting on the back by some Arewa so-called elders to these misguided Arewa youths, whose conduct is inimical to the peaceful and corporate existence of this nation.”

I do not blame the Hausa or Fulanis for our problems in Nigeria. I blame the so called educated, enlightened and progressive igbos and yorubas. The igbos and yorubas have wasted much energy on persistent rivalry, hatred and bigotry. The level of civilization of the Yoruba and igbos is reflected in the fact that their disagreements rarely degenerates into armed conflicts (unlike their Hausa counterparts). Sadly however they have never forged an alliance. Satan knows that the day both tribes can agree, Nigeria will become greater than America. Very educated, smart, hard working but useless to Nigeria. Always arguing and bickering over nothing!!!!
