Episode 13
Kevin's POV
I rush to Ava's house, her Mum opened the door for me.
"I've been expecting you" She says with a smile.
"Good afternoon ma" I say
"Afternoon dear, come in"
I enter Ava's home for the first time, it's so cozy.
"She's in her room, over there" she points towards a room.
"Thank you ma" I move towards the room and knock.
"Uhm.. who is it?"
"It's me Ava"
"Kevin?"
The door opens..
"Kevin"
"In the flesh" I say
She rolls her eyes.
"Come in"
I enter her room
"Wow, your room is so neat" I say sarcastically
"Shut up.. just rearranging my room"
I sit on a chair I spotted in the corner before.
And then silence.
No one says a word.
"Kevin"
"Ava"
We both say at the same time.
"You first" I say
"Uhm.. I'm sorry for my rash decision. It was so overwhelming but my Mum talked sense into me. Every relationship has it's own storm, this is ours, we have to fight it together, us and God."
I was quiet for a while.
"That was the mistake I made Ava, apart from not telling you, I didn't tell God, I should have put it in prayer. I was fighting alone, on my own, and it almost destroyed us" I say sadly.
"We both made mistakes.. if not for my Mum.."
"I will love your Mum forever." I say, smiling
"Alright, what next?"
"We pray"
"Okay.. come here"
We both kneel down, holding hands, committing our problems in God's hands.

"Hi Mum, hi Dad" I greet my parents and head to my room.
"You have a visitor"
I halt and turn around.
"Ashley?"
"Yes.. how did you know? Are you both on good terms now?" my Mum says excitedly.
I just shrug and go upstairs, I open the door and as expected she is sleeping on my bed.
"Hi Ashley"
"Kevin.."
"So..what's good?" I say sitting on the bed.
"Uhm.. why are you being so nice?"
"Ashley we need to talk"
"Yes.. I don't like the way you left me in school with that slut" she says with a sly smile.
I know what she's doing, she wants to make me angry but I have other plans for her.
"Ashley, are you happy with your life?"
"What?"
"Are you happy? With your life?"
"W...hy... why are you asking?"
For the first time, Ashley stuttered, she's always so confident.
"I just want to know"
"Yes I am of course, I'm rich, I'm pretty, I'm hot, what else?"
"I'm talking about you personally, are you happy deep within you? Are you happy living this way? Do you have any peace within you?"
"Why are you asking me all this Kevin?"
"I just want to know"
"I... I ... "
"You don't have to answer now"
"I have to go"
She leaves hurriedly but I saw the tears in her eyes.
Well, first step achieved.
I was removing my clothes when my Mum barged in.
"What did you do to Ashley?"
"I didn't do anything Mother"
"She was really upset when she left, you must have said something to her"
"I didn't say anything harsh to her. I want to take shower, I will join you for dinner when I'm done."
"We'll talk at dinner, ok?"
"Alright"
I go inside the bathroom.

"Hello Ash"
"What do you want Kevin?"
I sit beside her in the cafeteria.
"Nothing much... just wanna ask how you are."
"I'm okay"
"Alright. How is your project going?"
"I'm almost done"
"Good"
We stay quiet for some minutes.
"What do you want Kevin?"
"I... I want to apologize for the way I've been treating you, I'm sorry."
She looks at me surprised.
"Do you forgive me?"
"Yes, I guess"
Another brief silence...
"Anything else?"
"Yes, I wanna talk to you about the engagement"
She sighs.
"Ashley, we had a past, that's all it is to me, we were never in love with each other, we were just using each other. I'm a changed person now, I have a new life, I have someone I love sincerely with all of my heart. You will never be happy married to me Ashley, this is a forced engagement. I know you agreed to this for revenge but where is it gonna lead us? We are going to be miserable together.. Ashley I beg you, break off the engagement... Please"
I look at her expectantly, she didn't say anything.
Few seconds later, she stands up and leave.
*************************************
"She just left?"
"Yes, without saying a word" I reply Ava on the phone.
"Well, we'll keep praying then"
"Sure. Have you submitted your project?"
"Yes"
"Wow, I'm in love with a nerd" I say with a smile.
"And I'm dating an idiot"
"Me?"
"Yes"
"Wait till I see you, you will get it from me"
"Whatever"
"I gotta go, see you tomorrow"
"Alright, night"
"Yeah, love you"
"Love you too"
I hang up with a smile on my face, I decide to pray again.
I'm still hoping for a miracle.

THREE WEEKS LATER
"What are your plans after school?" I ask Ava, we are at our spot.
"Get a job of course"
"And?"
"Go further with my education"
"And?"
"Get a house, a car, take care of my parents."
"And?"
"And what again?"
"Is that all?"
"Yes"
"No.. that can't be all"
"What else?"
"You know..something that has to do with me.. like it can't be without me"
"What's that?"
"You know.."
"Know what Kevin?"
"Marriage"
"Oh.. Why did you say it can't be without you?"
"Obviously, you are marrying me"
"What makes you think I wanna marry you?"
"Because you love me and you got no choice, you are stuck with me Ava"
"Overconfidence"
I just shrug.
"I've not really thought about it"
"Well I have.. and it will happen"
"Whatever"
"You see..."
"Excuse me"
I got interrupted by Ashley.
"Hey Ash"
"Hi"
"Uhm, what's up?"
"Well uhm.. I've called off the engagement"
"WHAT?" Ava and I shout together.
"Just like that?" I ask her.
"Well, my parents never forced me into it and you were right Kevin, I agreed for revenge but I already lost my will. You obviously love Ava and she will always be a part of you."
Ava hugs Ashley.
"Thank you" Ava says.
"Whatever"
"Thank you Ashley"
"Yeah.. bye"
She starts leaving but I stop her.
"Give God a chance Ashley"
"Maybe someday"
Then she leaves.
I turn to Ava and we both hug each other.
"This is a miracle"
"Yes.. thank you God"

"I hope you are happy now" my Mum says immediately I enter the house.
"Uhm, about what?"
"Your Dad called me and said Ashley broke off the engagement"
"Oh...."
"Oh? Oh? That's all you have to say.. Oh?"
"Uhm.. what should I have said?"
"Oh God.. my son is an idiot." My Mum exclaims as she sits on the chair.
"Why is everyone calling me that these days?"
"That's because you are. Who called you that? I need to thank them"
"Well... it's Ava"
"Oh God." My Mum says with a sigh.
I move closer to her and hold her hands.
"Ava is not so bad Mum"
"Kevin, I'm worried about your future"
"The future will take care of itself. And the future I see is with Ava Mum"
"But the business"
"You and Dad built it together, Ava and I will build it together... trust me Mum, all will be well."
She keeps quiet for a long long time.
"I can't change your mind"
I nod my head.
"Whatever happens later, I will tell you "I told you so"
"I think I will be the one telling you that"
She sighs.
"Ava is outside Mum"
After a long silence again, she says.
"Let her in"

"I'm still surprised how everything turned out Kev"
"Kev?"
"You don't like it?"
"It's cool but why don't you try Babe? I will prefer that"
"Of course you will... idiot"
"Seriously?" I say pouting.
"You are such a baby"
"I'm your baby"

She shakes her head.
"We will always be together, right?"
Ava holds my hands in hers.
"Yes, we will. We are a team"

I place my head on hers.

I was so nervous but I pressed the door bell anyway.
"Hi Matt" I say with a smile as I greet the butler.
"Hi Ava"
"Is Kevin home?"
"Yes, come in"
"Wait, is she home?"
"Who..oh....yes she is. In the living room actually."
I take a deep breath and enter and I sight her immediately.
"Morning ma"
"Hmm.. Morning" she replies not looking up.
I stand in the living room, there's this awkward silence and I don't know what to say.
"Why are you still here? He's in his room" Kevin's Mum says.
"Uh ok, hope you are good ma, you look stressed out"
She looks up.
"I'll be fine, thank you"
"Ok.. see you later"
I pause a bit.
"Where is his room?"
She laughs.
"You don't know his room?"
"No"
"Hmm. The first room by the right"
"Thanks"
I go up and knock the door.
"Ava"
He says in shock.

KEVIN's POV
"Ava"
She smiles brightly and my heart skips a beat.
"Can I come in?"
"Uh?" I ask stupidly.
"Can. I. Come. In?"
"Uh.. of course."
We both enter and I close the door.
Ava looks round my room.
She looks really hot.
Shut up.
Am I seriously talking to myself in my thoughts right now?
"Your room is nice"
"Thanks."
I rub my hands nervously.
"So this is a surprise" I say trying to break the tension that I am feeling actually.
"Yes, I've not been seeing you around lately so I came for a visit. Besides, you are the one that has been always coming around."
"Oh" that's my great reply.
"Idiot. Anyway, I got this for you"
"What's this?" I collect the bag from her.
"See for yourself"
I open it.
"Wow"
"You like it?"
"Of course. You got me Jordan shoes. That must have cost a lot"
"Just little.."
"Thanks" I lean down and kiss her cheek.
Bad move.
I quickly move away and sit far from her from the bed.
"What's wrong?"
"Uh, nothing" I say quietly.
"Sure?"
"Yes. Uhm, have you eaten?" I say trying to change the topic
"No"
"Let me get something for you" I say and dash out not bothering to wait for an answer.
I lean against the door and place my hands on my fast beating heart.
"Calm down Kevin"
I dash down and get some snacks for her and yoghurt from the fridge.
I get to the door to my room and take a deep breath.
"You can do this Kevin, you can resist it" I mutter to myself.
I open the door and give her the snacks.
"Thank you"
I sit down awkwardly.
"I can't finish this yoghurt.. take some"
I move close and drink a little.
Ava laughs suddenly.
"What?"
"You have a mustache"
"Huh?"
She moves close and clean my lips.
I freeze.
My heart beats faster than normal.
I'm sweating all over.
And I start breathing heavily.
"Kevin"
"Huh?"
"What's wrong with you? You've been acting weird since"
I stand up.
"Kevin, what is it?"
"I.. I .. I don't wanna scare you"
"Well, you are already scaring me. What is it?"
I rub my hands together nervously.
"I don't know how to tell you this"
She just keeps quiet.
"It's just these days I've been feeling..uhm.. hot"
"Hot? Are you sick?" She asks with a confused look.
"I mean.. I've been getting really... I mean I've been getting "THE URGE""
"Urge? Seriously Kevin what do you mean by......" she trails off.
"Oh" Ava says quietly.
"You mean, "that urge" you wanna have.."
I nod my head.
"Oh" Ava says and look down at my trouser and look away quickly.
I'm so embarrassed right now.
And then an awkward silence.
"Well I think I will go now"
"Oh.. ok"
"Uhm.. bye. We'll see when..the..you know what... has died down." Ava says and run out.
"Damn, this is embarrassing" I mutter to myself.
I just wish the ground will swallow me up.

Ava's POV
"Whoa you are home earlyyyyy......" my Mum was saying and her voice trails off as she sees my face.
I rush into my room and fall on the bed as I cry m heart out.
"Baby, what's wrong?" My Mum says as she enters my room.
I just cry more.
She hugs me.
"Shh, it's okay, it's okay" my Mum says patting my back.
After what feels like hours I finally stop and I pull from the hug.
"You want to talk about it?"
I nod my head in response.
"Well..." my Mum says after few minutes of silence.
"He has a fiance" I say and a tear drops from my eye and I wipe it off.
"Who has a fiance?" My Mum says looking confused.
"Kevin.."
"He does? How?" My Mum says looking shocked.
"His parents wants him engaged to Ashley, and she is also his ex"
"And they are now engaged?"
"Does it matter? Anyway, I broke it off with him."
"So soon?"
"What do you expect me to do Mum? His parents already have a girl in mind for him.. I'm nothing compared to her"
"Don't say that Ava"
"Well it's the truth. I have nothing to offer him"
"Stop belittling yourself.. you have a lot of potential in you Ava. You are beautiful, in and out, never think you are not"
I sigh.
"Ava, running away from problems is not going to solve it. It's better you face them"
"But..." I wanted to argue.
"Listen dear.. No relationship is perfect, every relationship goes through it's own storm, married or not. And you have a better chance of winning it because you are a child of God. Ava, you both love each other, I know he does cos your phone's screen been flashing with his name since.
This your storm Ava, you have to take charge, both of you.. Show the devil who is the boss here."
"But if it doesn't work.."
"Is there anything too hard for God to do?"
I shake my head.
"There you have your answer.."
"Mum.." I hug her.
"You are the best" I say with tears in my eyes and a smile on my lips.
"I know"
We both laugh.
"Now call him before he goes crazy"
She hands me the phone.
She winks at me before she leaves the room.
I take a deep breath and dial his number.
He picks up on the first ring.

Kevin's POV
It took me time to realize what happened as I watched Ava run off.
"Did she just break up with me?" I asked myself.
"No no no..." I brought my phone out and start calling her as I run out of school.
She later called back after an hour and I pick it up immediately.
"Kevin listen..."
I interrupt her.
"This is so unfair Ava, you can't just break up with me.. It's not like I didn't want to tell you about the engagement, I just never found the right time and I never agreed to it anyway, we can't break up not after everything we've been through, we are just starting Ava, we can't end it, I'm never going to end it.. you understand?"
She chuckles.
"I'm sorry Kevin.. I'm sorry for making an irrational decision.. I'm sorry... we will fight this together Kevin"
I am stunned.
"Hey where are you?" I ask her.
"I'm home"
"I'm coming over"
