IEFCL is a world class fertilizer company producing 4000MT of urea per day which is the highest single stream fertilizer production in the whole world which is located in Indorama Eleme petrochemical complex portharcourt NG. A day production amount to over $2m per day. It is well known to the staff that acting president is coming to commission the plant and the staff stage peace protest to their welfare and salary scale. This is modern slavery. Below is the salary scale
Nigerian staff (field operator): take home after tax46000naira.
Indian staff(field operator): 2,140,352.naira.
The peace protest was on since yesterday until this morning that Nigeria Army came to brutalise them with explosives device, tear gas, koboko and threatened with gun shots. Many of the staff were badly injured and some fainted as they ran for safety, but they were all dumped by the eastwest road side by Nigeria Army led by Lt. Usman taking order from indian chief security. Nigerian staff can not avoid bicycle and Indian staff were building, buying new houses and buying modern cars. We are calling on meaningful Nigeria to come to our aid.

1. The wage disparity between Nigerian and Indian operator is high, if true.

2. Sadly we have a weak labour law and there is no labour Commission in Nigeria.

3. Workers can write complaint letter to NLC and the minister for Labour;

4. A good lawyer or office of public defendant can help you institute of case against those military guys whipping you for staging peaceful process. Lagos State govt has in time past won 1/2 cases of such and compensation made

The rights of no Nigerian is protected under the law. All the International labour laws Nigeria is signatory to and ratified at home are all a fat joke. We place higher value on expats who just stand akimbo from morning till evening pointing fingers over our own technicians here in Nigeria. If their own country values them so much, they wouldnt be here in the first place. If local militia use this as an excuse to start civil unrest, it is these stupid Indians they will start with but the dumb CSO fails to understand that CSR, dialogue, employee welfare and fair wages is the key to have a secured presence in South South.
