Etisalat Nigeria is changing its brand name to 9Mobile, TheCable has learnt. Only a few weeks ago, a new board was appointed at Etisalat Nigeria, to handle the smooth transition of the telecommunications company after a reallocation of shares. Boye Olusanya, former deputy managing director of Celtel Nigeria (now Airtel Nigeria), was appointed as the chief executive officer of Etisalat Nigeria to over see the transition. I wonder who thought of this name for Etisalat. The person should have at least made some consultations and sample some names. What is 9mobile, sounds very awkward. I hope they make it in this new phase of their business. I understand their stance. 9 mobile was the closest name they could get that eases the change and convinces customers it's still the same network. since their biggest campaign/Branding after the word "Etisalat" was 080-"9ja" |
