Hello folks, its weekend and its time to relax and unwind so we decided to ask this question.

I was with some of my friends at the weekend and we had an argument that its not ideal you buy a car first without having at least a landed property or a house. According to the Yorubas, it's been said that cars make you spend and it accumulates expenses while land, cars are all assets..

This makes us to ask, when did you buy your first car? Did you believe in the saying that cars are money wasters? How has your car affect your life or business in anyway.

It's weekend and we just want to freestyle..

We have got to understand that we live in a very conservative society that is still adapting to the change in paradigm blowing across the world. However somethings are more guaranteed in the economies we try to copy than ours. What should motivate anyone to achieve anything tangible these days are his or her peer group and the people you move with. My first car was a Toyota Tercel and my first experience with a Toyota product. I am in the equipments and plant business and I had to buy that vehicle in order to see my customers across the Nation. Along the line, I switched to a Mercedes Benz C220 1996 which I used unregrettably for three years and sometimes travelling across the country on sales trip as the Japanese could not serve my purpose. My motivation again is that my father used an earlier 1974 version of the same product which he used to conduct his own businesses. Third members of my peer group used Mercedes Benz and contrary to my expectation, it is cheaper to maintain than most overhyped Japanese vehicles. I must say that Mercedes Benz is a rugged product and with good maintenance and the right spare parts you can use it for as long as you want.By taking that brand of car to any business meeting or bidding, I won respect for my competitors and host. I do not believe that society or anyone should dictate how you live your life but I believe that you should make a choice on how you live your life to the fullest. Cheers to everyone reading this.

I got my first car out of necessity, I close late and it was difficult and risky going home at night, though I had backlash from friends and colleagues who believe I should get a landed property or investment, or as a single and young lady it will scare away men from me. Truth be told the car is serving me officially as that was the purpose of getting, my parents gave me their blessings too, and I also assist most of colleagues after close of work. For me the car wasn't for show off or to intimidate any one and that hasn't change my person as I don't see those without cars as losers but its all about choice. Love to have another one but the current economic situation isn't friendly with cash.

It was on auction at an unbelievable and incredible price. Minimal fuel consumption, affordable spare sparts and very reliable. It would have been crazy not to take it

First car was toyota corolla 2000, got it 4yrs ago.it was a car i really enjoyed, cheap maintenance n fuel consumption was excellent. I got it to ease my movement and was expecting a child too. Sold it last yr n the person is still enjoying the car till today. I got another car.

Its just a car I'll encourage any starter should buy if they can afford it cos it looks smaller but expensive.

Its harder to get multi-million naira jobs and contracts when its a danfo bus you use to go meet people.

You can't respond to opportunities quick enough.

Get a car and it will give you better access to people and opportunities.

The money for purchase of a regular car can't even buy you land in a good location except Mowe-Ibafo, Ikorodu (goodluck with Badoo boys) and Badagry....and Ibeju-Lekki ( that location is the most promising but you'll walk for up to 4-6 years before any worthwhile appreciation ).

I just got my toyota solara last month. I always browsed the internet daily looking at pictures of this car. I was a broke azz niggah. Today i drive a solara and i aint broke any more.

I dated this young girl, I ravaged her anatomy and conquered her innuendos completely...when I knew there was no more adventure in the relationship, I dumped her.
She felt used and cursed me saying I will remain a pauper... I will never own a bicycle tyre and so on.

Three weeks later, I got my first car.

So the only reason I bought my first car was to truly test if her curse was potent.

Mine was in 2009 when I was in an unexpected labour and the contraction was coming every 5mins. My hubby rushed to call our neighbor to help take me to an hospital, but was told there was no fuel in the car, I couldn't move an inch not to talk of trecking to the hospital. Before they could see another neighbor to take me, the baby's head was outmost out , thank goodness the hospital was not that far. I gave birth to my son almost immediately we got there( imagine what could have happened .....) After all the experience, my hubby bought his first car, he was saving the money to build a house, but he realised that car is very important to any family in case of emergencies. I almost name that boy "car is important" lol lol

Got my first car last year. Toyota solara. Bought it just to challenge myself that people who buy cars dont have two heads. After driving it for 6 months i totally became disinterested and sold it because it wasnt really my priority.

What shocked me the most was the eyes peering at me on my street each time i drive by. The salute from people who actually thought na my own bad pass. The envy from people i used to hang out with and trek.

I will get a car very soon when i have accumulated enough millions besides i don't really leave my neighbourhood everything i do is online

Hello guys. Pls I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but even if it isn't, pls someone should kindly redirect me to the right place. I relocated to Lagos a few months ago cuz I got a job here. But Transportation has been an issue. I'm not really used to the struggling. So I've decided to get a car. So my question is, what's the cheapest car that I can get as a bachelor that's fuel efficient and can do the job. I'm not looking for smtin flashy. All I want is a healthy used car. Not Nigerian used Sha. I know ppl buy cars from cotonou so smtin like that. A friend suggested golf 3. So if I'm to get a golf, how much do I need. Other car suggestions are welcome.
P.S. I have like 500k to spare.

My first car was purchased in May 2015 and was 98 Toyota camry, its not money waster but money booster, i only got 2 plot of land then and i live in 2 bedroom rented apartment, the car has been blessing as it help my business grow and aids my movement to deliver services, 2 years later i built my own 3 bed, still riding the old horse now, its answers me when i press it, maintenance are damn cheap and d damn car is too rugged
