We need to commend our football stars. They really tried their best.
However, African football has a long way to go.

Thanks to the Nigerian Legends.

peter rufai is always faking injury if the beating becomes too much. He did against Holland in a friendly where baruwa replaced him. They are all completely finished. They are only clinging to an overrated past achievement

Wow! Lovely concept. Wish we could do a similar tournament in Nigeria. Pity we don't have a proper indoor facility like this in Nigeria.

Well said and Ike shorunmu would've been a better option instead of Rufai, imagine we had no keeper to replace him afterwards undecided anyways we crashed out already but I blv this tournament has come to stay, and I foresee qualifier being played to determine who represents africa in the next edition. So we should be using our better legs..

The players disappointed him. They exposed him so many times and failed to clear the line when he managed to stop a nasty shot. Okocha was just in the middle disguising and wasting passes meant for his mates. He either lost possession or gave 'free' balls to the Spanish yesterday. They weren't threatening the opponents but every time Spain got the ball, they panic. There was no coordination in the team. Even Aghahowa who should possibly be the youngest and fittest in the team was one of the worst. He was clueless. Djamilha of Brazil embarrassed him with that overhead flick. They were there to show off and collect their appearance fees while their opponents were thinking about scoring goals and getting the trophy.

Truth be told, we don't have a fitness culture in Nigeria.

Our so-called big men find no reason to run 5 miles a day whilst Europeans do this routinely.

We build homes with gyms just for show off.

Nkwobi, Pounded yam with Egusi with an assorted array of meat washed down with 2 odekus all from 10 p.m.

How in the world can we compete from age 40?

Rufai actually did well stopping so many shots. He didn't have much protection and support from his colleagues. They weren't as mobile and as quick as their three last opponents. They weren't threatening.

There is a difference between playing and showing off against AY and friends and playing against the likes of Del Piero, Rivaldo and Mendietta.

They qualified as the best loser then got thrashed by Spain. Only one man could shoot in the whole team, Aiyegbeni. Others couldn't shoot.

The guys did well by getting to the quarter finals, despite the fact that they were not organised.

Kanu was supposed to be in the team, but he pulled out because of other commitments. Yakubu Aiyegbeni was not informed in time. He just got a phone call one morning and the person on the line asked him if he can make it to London for a football match. Emmanuel Okocha (Jay Jay's elder brother) who last played for Nigeria in 1990, was added to the team to replace someone that pulled out.

Some of the players were not sure if it was just a friendly or if it was a competitive match. One of the England players (talking about their 4-1 loss to Spain) said that they thought it was just a friendly kind if game, only to get on the pitch and discover that the Spaniards were very serious. He said that they didn't even know that they could call for a time-out.

Well said, I never said Rufai did badly but we ought to have a keeper on the bench as injury is expected to occur as age is no longer on their side, and they actually didn't prepare for the tournament proper which has always been the problem with our various National team right from time..We hope to see better legs nxt tym sha couple with early preparation.

shocked Salgado still got his iconic thunder shots. This man can still bench some players in competitive football with his current level of performance. Nigerian players are suffering from same problem affecting almost all our young football players who signs a good financial contract, once the account comes alive the passion and zeal for glory dies. They see financial success as their trophy even if it means writting their name in the book of history with a pencil instead of a golden pen.

Nigeria once had a five-a-side national team (in the early 1990s). I'm not sure if we still do. Back then they played their world cup qualifying matches and other tournaments at the indoor sports hall of the National Stadium in Lagos.

We can also hold similar competitions at the Landmark Events Centre at Oniru (where Lagos Islanders basketball club play their home games). The National Stadium can accommodate more people, while Landmark is more modern. We can also use the velodrome at the National Stadium, Abuja. All we need to do is lay an artificial pitch in the arena.

1) National Stadium Lagos (indoor sports hall)

2) Landmark, Oniru, Victoria Island.

Complete analysis. I was on court yesterday and invited a younger 9ja youngman to join me sweat out playing basketball,he said what?but he was happy at the end of the day.9ja lacks fitness routine, once they clock 35 they consider themselves old why you see 85 years old french men/women jugging in the morning to keep fit.Africans have this deficiency.

I watched all our games online and i wasn't happy as our players struggles except Yakubo, they were very slow,Spain played fast tempo football and our players can't run, they are completely overweight and lacks fitness. They should have stayed behind or train like a month before the tournamet.

I honestly would pick same set of players if I was the coordinator or some coach assembling them. The likes of Okocha, ikpeba, Yobo, Amokachi and Garba lawal have been playing and keeping fit in many charity matches.

Which legs could be better than theirs? Yobo is still fit, Aghahowa should be, it's not long they stopped playing very active competitive sport.

I think they shouldn't see the tournament as another avenue to be relevant. Okocha need to move his arse and help his mates. He used to be known for hitting the ball so hard from long distance but right inside the O2 6aside space, he couldn't see the keeper, goal post or shoot accurately.

Teams are only allowed to have one keeper and the Irish keeper serves as reserve keeper for all teams.
