Reason before you talk....is not a clown matter, FGN is saying the right thing here...are you telling me naija don't have good dancers....it pains me seeing those harlots hired from south Africa to dance for their music, meanwhile these are the people we supported all of them started in Naija here but they will claim abroad....just like a proverbial fish when is small it will be in the stream when it grows big it goes to the River.....talking of dollars that aspect constitute dollars demand and scarcity if FGN could holistically looked into Medical and Educational system in Nigeria the demand for Dollars will drop drastically this days the volume of Nigerian students abroad is so high and the numbers of Nigerian traveling abroad for medical check up and for child delivery is so much...thereby mounting pressure on Naira due to dollar demand....Nigerians need to arise, National assembly need to make laws that will better the nation, FEC need to generate policies that will checkmate excesses of our people we are the ones destroying this nation.....it pains me to see the numbers of Nigerians going to school in common GHANA, TANZANIA, it bleeds my heart after that they will come back to work in Nigeria as what as expatriates.....this country is funny.....God should intervene and bring back our glory once again....Amen.
brother i like your point and i dont wanna oppose or agrue with you but how many foreigners attend our universities? But why does the govt take pleasures in sending their kids abroad ... Do u know that some govt officials even send their kids to ghana .. common ghana . Its a shame . This govt cant tell these entertainers what to do .. they dont lead by example

[quote author=dumebiifeanyi post=58560755]The All Progressives Congress(APC) youth renaissance group has fired a stinker at Peter Okoye of P-square for insulting the Federal government of Nigeria.

In a statement signed by the group's national secretary, Mr Collins Edwin and made available to PoliticsNGR, the APC described Okoye as a 'son of darkness'.

The statement read in full;

[i]We read the scurrilous remarks credited to Mr Peter Okoye of the Psquare group against the Federal Government's job-saving policy in the entertainment industry with great anger and vexation.

Least of all persons to make scathing remark against the government is the Psquare group which the local content policy of the Federal Government dusted-up from the valley of obscurity.

Where was Peter Okoye or Psquare brand in 1999 when foreign music dominated our airwaves? If not for the government policy which mandated all broadcast stations in Nigeria to pay attention to Nigerian music by playing 95 percent of Nigerian songs every day, would Peter Okoye or Psquare be known to anybody in Nigeria today? Or would they have competed with better American music which dominated our airwaves then?

After the government have used its policy to brush them up from nothing to something; instead of giving opportunity to other people, they are taking Nigerian jobs to foreign countries through the shooting of music videos abroad.

Now that government have intervened to raise great and better entertainers again, Peter Okoye has the gut to insult the entire Federal Government by calling our great leaders 'Ndi Ala' which means mad and stupid people. How dare you say that Psquare?

We, therefore, urge the security agencies in the country to arrest Mr Peter Okoye for disrespecting our government and bringing it to a disrepute. If you cannot produce in Nigeria and hire Nigerians, then leave the industry. We must export Nigerian culture

Look who is talking about exporting nigeria
where is your president taking his medical leave?

Point of correction hypcritical and satanic APC , it was the PDP government that was responsible for the regeneration of the Music industry with the Government policy that mandated the playing of 95 percent of Nigerian songs every day.

What P square wants to know is how would the hypocrits who still purchase foreign made vehicles , buy foreign made shoes , go to foreign hospitals for checkup and treatments now decide to ban foreign music production.

Please discerning Nigerians, APC government does not mean well for Nigeria, they have not grown Nigerian rice industry neither have they encouraged Nollywood , all they want is to kill our indigenous musicians career , through scorched earth policies and highly jaundiced ethnic manipulations

What a trash!

Did anybody claim that APC was in government in 1999?

In 1999 were there no purchase of foreign vehicles, shoes and medical check-ups?

A good policy is being introduced and all you could do is to vomit out obviously hate and political speeches.

The .idiot government are not ashamed of themselves to come out and call names whereas they are the culprits themselves. Why should they talk when they are seeking health care from overseas? Their children are in schools abroad leaving our schools dilapidated. Me I can't shout o

Both sides are right. Buy Nigeria should be a universal call and not that of government alone. Patriotism remains a personal conviction and in this the young man clearly errs. However government has not one single moral fibre to make that call when it is the chief consumer (waster) of the country's resources and the principal source of capital flight through its policies and actions. And worse, the charge couldn't have come at a more auspicious time when its leader is presently accounting for a lot of resource outflow whose value may equal or exceed that of the entire music industry.

We also have to be careful that the budding industry, a growing employment and revenue generator is not undermined by this policy so it will have been wiser to conduct a technical study into the cost:benefit of the foreign component of the industry because I know one thing about the arts and performing arts. It thrives on publicity and what better way to gain that than by taking your work processes to a global audience. You may then discover a net benefit in that.

Technical studies should be done by both parties so Nigerians can ultimately decide if such a policy is in our overall interest. Facts pls, not hot air.

u wanna ban foreign production of music videos, yet u go abroad for common ear ache. Why can't the youths push tribalism to the side, and open their eyes to the truth. while these old men turn us against each other, they live comfortable lives, vacationing from one carribean beach to the other. their kids study at the most prestigious universities abroad, they visit the most equipped hospitals abroad for small things like common cold that can be cured with pepper soup. Youths, open ur eyes and don't let these old bag of bones use u as puppets.

The set of kids running around Nairaland nowadays lack simple and deep reasoning. First the article talk about local content as part of FG policy.

The same set of kids take pride in Aba made and Nnewi made even when some of those products are merely assembled and label in Aba but now choose to stupid snd selective in reasoning about the call for local content in the production of music video.

How many musical video's has south African shots in Nigeria. Every government policy comes with its gains' and it's pains'.

The same local content introduces in the oil and gas industrial allow so many of your brothers and sisters working in shell, total etc to keep such jobs at the expense of the exptrate's.

APC Youth and APC led Federal Government!!! Chai! There's god ooo!

The industry that few INDIVIDUAL started with their own money, build it to an enviable world class standard, now you want to come in and kill the business like others

Chai! Why una no think reach the side of first providing financial support to the young and upcoming artists, then you can tell them to record and shoot videos funded by you in Nigeria.

Truth be told, the artist are NOT using TAX PAYERS MONEY as some are saying here for their business, so you can't dictate how they run their business (just like Dangote have factories in other countries and you can't stop him) .
Don't be deceived some of these guys can do without naija(Dbanj...), they now have global recognition and acceptance, and they make much more money on their US, UK, SA, Kenya.... tours. you see

Finally, can you guys just pause for a second and think what happens if other countries decide to follow suit and say no Nigerian music or video should air on their airwave

Lol...common sense!!!

APC and Hypocrisy has no bounds! Meanwhile the vegetable president has been in another country without any clue on his health status. FG has no moral rights to ban music videos production outside Nigeria when they have not set anything in place esp with the epileptic power supply, hooliganism and insecurity etc!
FG should first ban the use of medical facilities abroad for those in govt before coming to tell the common man on the streets how to spend their money and where to do their business.
As for the APC youths blasting its quite obvious they have to make rubbish statements in order to get their daily crumbs from their paymasters.

thats just the way things roll where some are slave to their masters
