Dividend of TSA.

How can JAMB just be remitting into the National coffers for the 1st time?

Civil servants can be worse than politicians when it comes to corruption.
Its not the first time. The man de find cheap publicity

The cost of writing Jamb is too high.

Government should consider eliminating all the middle men to drive down cost.

Jamb is supposed to be more of service based than revenue generating agency

For those who do not know, the reason this is a major news item (and for which Prof. Oloyede and his team at JAMB should be commended and encouraged) is that under past JAMB Registrars, JAMB always ended in deficit (they always borrowed money) after the UTME.

Under Oloyede, the following initiatives happened:

1. Massive negotiation for discounts with banks on the commission and other fees payable for safe keeping of exam materials.

2. Blockage of ALL loopholes in procurement of ALL items used for the exams (from appliances to stationery).

3. Pre-qualification of ALL contracts and opening up of the contract process (as opposed to the past, especially under the immediate past Registrar, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde where only very few contractors (who were "ready to play ball"wink were engaged.

4. ALL staff posted out-of-station were promptly paid their allowances (to improve staff motivation) unlike in the past when staff returned form external posting and they will be 'negotiating' with the Director of Finance and his boys to be paid their legitimate allowances.

5. Oloyede also brought a completely new set of staff appraisal system (hence, everyone at JAMB now sit up and do their work rather than get busy seeking contracts for supplies in JAMB).

So, why won't celebrate a person (Oloyede) who is returning N5 billion to the coffers of government, as compared to his predecessors who not only spend EVERY KOBO collected as fees for UTME forms and subvention, but also borrowed!

Let me also inform you that Oloyede has told JAMB staff that from next year, JAMB will be paying staff salaries from fees charged on forms and IGR (i.e. they won't depend on annual FG budget/grant anymore)! What could be better than this? This information is not in the media space yet...

Professor of Arabic or not, for someone with the following positions across diverse agencies and establishments, do you still doubt his integrity, competence, and fair-mindedness?

See the list of Oloyede's "past and present":

Member of University Governing Council at Unilorin; National President of Unilorin Alumni Association (after having been previously elected as 1st and 2nd Vice President respectively for various terms); Member of almost innumerable Committees and Task Forces at Unilorin; Chairman of Unilorin Holdings Limited; Director of Unilorin Consultancy Services; Director of Academic Planning; Deputy Vice Chancellor; Co-Secretary of the National Political Reform Conference (appointed by President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2005); Consultant to the National Universities Commission (NUC); National Coordinator of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (appointed by President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2007); President of Association of African Universities (AAU). AAU is the apex organization for higher education in the whole of Africa; International Advisory Board member of International Network for Higher Education in Africa (INHEA); Vice Chancellor of a second-generation federal University, Unilorin; Visiting Professor to several Universities in Nigeria and abroad; Professor in the School of Arts and Social Sciences at National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) after his tenure as Vice Chancellor of Unilorin; JAMB Registrar.

Oloyede (who got a First Class degree from Unilorin and was awarded a Federal Govt scholarship as an undergraduate, and who was appointed as Professor at 41) is from Abeokuta in Ogun state; every Egba man and woman should be proud of this guy, sentiments aside!

So Mr Oloyede has achieved by reaping off students with JAMB's failed system to make more money available to the looters.

We commend his prudence but ordinary Nigerians should not be made to pay so high to write a local exam to make money for the stealing elites.

One problem with some people is that, when you reason right it become a problem to them. Consistently failed JAMB is now a revenue base for the elite and some are applauding such barbarity. I shame for some people. You spoke very well my bro.

This is one of PMB appointments that actually got the right person, now imagine if 90% of his appointees are this capable. the effect we will be feeling will even go down to the poor citizens of dis country

The so called "Professor of Arabic studies or is it Islamic studies" is already delivering.

Shame on those hypocrites condemning this man.

Shame on those enemy of progress.

Shame on those religious bigots who only sees his religion and believes nothing good will ever come from him.

Shame on them and their entire generation.

Quote me to say rubbish If you're one of those mentioned.

Its alarming the level at which religious bigotry has eaten deep into our system. Just because the man is a Muslim you can imagine the different names they called this man.

Lets now imagine the Presidency had bowed to the pressures of these "boko haram" religious bigots and maintain the status quo would we be celebrating JAMBs achievement today? I doubt it.

Its obvious it is human nature to be receptive to change but the way these people go about it was disturbing. Bringing religion into performance is one of the greatest devils tool in this country.

When fasola started the transformation of Lagos state, it was all noise left right and center but now the people are now used to it to the extent that the state is now a flagship that everyone wants to copy.

Aregbesola is changing the fortune of Osun state some people were shouting islamisation just because of the man's religion.

I am very sure Almight God is watching us all from heaven and he never leaves the one truly serving him no matter the amount of noise hypocrites and enemy of progress make.

@jomoh - thanks for the info.

@DTaj
Bros, you mean previous JAMB Registrars/Secretaries managed to spend all that's generated from form sales (from over 1.4m students that's over N7b) and then their budgeted subvention too!! going on for the past 40yrs before this Oloyede?!!

Why was there no question from the Education ministry... sorry my shock got the better of me - have forgotten this is Nigeria (anything goes and they are all in on it)

Imagine what NECO and WAEC provosts too would have been killing.

Actually its in all the govt. parastatals allowed by law to collect any money - NCC (2% from all telecos), NIMASA (0.5% in USD on all imports), NHIS, Fed Mortage, CAC (generating over N5b too as claimed by the staff union leaders currently on strike), PENCON, NNPC (always in debt), SEC, NDIC etc. they all spend the collected monies and their budget subventions and often go into negative balance.

I believe ChiefOlabowla is wrong, he should check the above too. Nigeria I hail thee.

Honestly if all nigerian revenue generating agencies can be remmiting his 80% of what they generate, we will discover that Nigeria is far richer than most G20 nations.
Re: JAMB Remits N5billion To FG Coffers – Spokesperson by careidon: 9:37am On Jul 20, 2017
U are very correct-Just 80%

the heads of those agencies and their godfathers who get and keep them there are all in the cut.
with over 25m cars how can car registration & licensing not fund themselves?
with over 5m regular travellers getting or renewing passports at > N30k; how can passport office (immigration) not fund itself?

"when the illegal becomes the law, inaction and looking away becomes a crime"

when are we going to act?
