The Asset management corporation of Nigeria, on Friday, took control of all operations and assets of Gateway Portland cement Nigeria over a N3 billion debt.

This development followed an injunction from a federal high court in Abeokuta, Ogun state against the company.  The company's facilities and factories in Mowe and Abeokuta areas of Ogun state are now under the control of AMCON.

Presiding Judge, Justice A. Mohammed in his ruling, restrained Gateway Portland cement Ltd, agents, promoters or 'whosoever' from entering the firm. He also issued an order restraining the company from withdrawing money from any bank or financial institution and barred any business transaction with the cement giant pending the determination of the suit.

The order also restrained the company from interfering with, obstructing or frustrating the receiver appointed by AMCON(Adeogun-Phillips Charles) in performing his duties.

The judge also directed Gateway Portland Cement Limited to deliver all the charged assets of the company in their possession forthwith to Adeogun-Phillips.Justice Mohammed directed the inspector general of police to assist the bailiff and Adeogun-Phillips in the enforcement of the orders.
