I've lived in Lagos for years and it's obvious that state is not planned and the govt depend on media to hype little achievement only on visible places. Enter some remote residential areas in Lagos and you will agree with me that the state does nothing. I know that state like my palm.
You lived in Lagos for years and didn't achieve anything.

Mo sorry fun eh, if you cannot make it in Lagos.

Your hate speech about Lagos is uncalled for. Most of us were born & brought up here, we love the rugged life, the traffic and the air we breathe.

Hang yourself.

You're born and brought up there? Thank God for you. You're still there? Sincerely no one makes it in his state of birth. Change your location brother and experience life cos what you got now is recycled life and nothing to show

I don't know of one sane, decent person who can 'like' a place like Lagos. Most people I know just tolerate the place, the same way a sick person tolerates medication but to like Lagos.... you must be nuts. Even the Federal government with all its might and resources fled the place in 86. I followed shortly after and haven't looked back since.
It depends on what part of Lagos you lived in, the experiences you had there and the kind of community or people you interacted with, in each area. Even within Lagos, some people like Ikoyi & Victoria Island, but hate Apapa. There are others that like Magodo and Ikeja GRA, but hate Maryland. A few others would swear by Ogudu, but exhibit a vehement dislike for Ojota which is just round the corner from them. I am uncomfortable in any part of Isale-Eko, but I find it easy to go with the flow in Surulere, Akoka and old Yaba. It all depends on the individual. I have lived in other parts of Nigeria, but I always feel there is something missing in those places, until I get back to Lagos.

Try Abuja. Lagos is good but modern life is not there anymore. They still live in houses like in the 80s & 90s (face me I face you) with one public toilet for the whole compound and no kitchen. Even in houses around mountains here that are not govt approved are more decent and modern than those slums. mosquito rate there is alarming.

I lived in Abuja for a few years. It was too bland and devoid of the dynamism that characterises Lagos. And it had too many one-way routes for my liking! Now I know why you hated Lagos. You lived in one of the ghettos in the city, when you were still here. Those are the places where you still have face-me-I-face you type of houses. cheesy

The road network is excellent and modern just that the govt need to create sign posts to direct one easily like the way it is in VI and others. Aguda to you is ghetto? I believe you don't know there too well. Festac still got the richest guys in Lagos

If you had lived in old Yaba, Magodo, Ikeja GRA, Ikoyi, Lekki Phase 1, Ilupeju, Palmgrove estate, Ire-Akari Estate.... maybe you would have had a different opinion about Lagos. If truly you lived in Festac, you wouldn't have lived in a face-me-i-face you kind of apartment as there are duplexes, flats and self-contained apartments in that area. So this idea you are propagating that Lagos is not a modern city - "They still live in houses like in the 80s & 90s (face me I face you) with one public toilet for the whole compound and no kitchen" is totally wrong!

Doesn't make any difference. Lagos is not planned and no good drainage system. Even a blind man don't need to argue all this. This areas you call is just name and no part of it compares to Abuja both in serenity and planning.

If Festac has some of the richest guys in Lagos, then where did you get your opinion about Lagos not being a modern city, with 'your face-me-I-face you rooms with one toilet' from? Or you were just exaggerating in order to paint Lagos black?

Again, it depends on what part of Lagos you go to. I have never seen old Yaba, Ilupeju etc flooded. But areas like Victoria Island, Lekki, Ikoyi and Apapa get flooded anytime it rains. Forget Abuja, as you are not an indigene of the place. Does your own state have drainage? Are all the major areas within the state where you hail from, are they carefully planned?

I truly do not know what Lagos took from you, that has made you hate the place so much. The most modern restaurants, event centres, plazas, shopping malls, cinema houses etc., are all in Lagos, if you know where to look. It has a seaport and international airport. Some of the best telecom infrastructure, is found in Lagos. And yet you claim it is not modern? Goodness, gracious me!

Point of correction, Agege is not close to Sango Ota. You claimed you know Lagos like your palm, yet you first said Sango is in Lagos. Now you saying it's close to Agege.

I don't know how you came about Lagos whereas the location of the flood is Sango, Ogun State.

Now, looking at the terrain of both states; Lagos n Ogun, you wouldn't wanna argue that Ogun state is highly elevated compared to Lagos...

Abuja with the best drainage system in Nigeria? I won't argue that either but please do pay a visit to Bwari, Jikwoyi, Kurudu as well as Mpape and tell me the best drainage system over there.

To rest my points, urbanization is the major cause of natural disaster. There's no way there won't be population influx in major cities which in turn increses environmental pollution, thereby aggravating the effects of these natural disasters.

Hahhahahaha. Abuja is the real deal to me. Do you know I don't have generator? cos no need to have. the light here is constant and no Nepa harassment cos we all make use of prepaid meter. Houses are spaced so one can breath fresh air and not those conjoined houses and generator noise everywhere. I believe u got the modern nature I meant. enjoyment here is matured and second to none.

Agege is a local govt and the nearest boundary it got with Ogun state is Ota. The particular area this flood happened is close to Lagos and most people there refer themselves as lagosians
What about Alagbado? Sorry, nobody in Sango-Otta refers to himself as a Lagosian. In fact, if they are going past Ikeja to other parts of the city, they will tell you clearly: I am going to Lagos!

I was right earlier. When you lived in Lagos, you lived within a ghetto community with face-me-I-face-you rooms. That is why you still have this mentality.

Even the ones staying in mararaba, Nyanya, Dede, zuba will come to social media and be claiming Abuja when dey cannot afford 400000 to rent a single self contain in gwarimpa or Utako self.
No stop it.... stop it, I say! Why are you making me laugh so much? If anything happens to me because of this laughter, I will not take it lightly with you. Papa God sabi yah address, o!

Lagos has both old and new houses. Even old houses are being bought over and renovated on a daily basis, within Lagos. Many streets have undergone a transformation. But you wouldn't know this, as your only contact with Lagos, was a ghetto area. Within densely populated districts like Ajegunle, Mushin, Orile, Owode, Bariga & Oshodi - yes there are crowds. But there are several other areas and estates in Lagos, that are still free of crowds and the houses are owned by those living in them. In Lagos, the area you live in, does matter!
