CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF GIVES THEATRE COMMAND OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE DEADLINE TO CAPTURE ABUBAKAR SHEKAU

Today, Friday 21st July 2017, the Chief of Army Staff, Nigerian Army, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, has directed the Theatre Commander, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, to capture Abubakar Shekau, the so-called and self-styled leader of Boko Haram terrorists group, dead or alive.

The Theatre Commander has further been directed to do so within 40 days.

He is to employ all arsenal at the disposal of the Theatre Command to smoke out Shekau wherever he is hiding in Nigeria.

The general public is please requested to also assist and volunteer information that would lead to the accomplishment of this task.

TROOPS RESCUE INJURED BOKO HARAM TERRORIST

Troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in strict adherence to Rules of Engagement and international conventions on armed conflict especially as it relates to prisoner of war rescued a Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) Abba Mustapha who was injured and abandoned to his fate by his colleagues in the heat of heavy fire fight with Nigerian Army troops in one of the remote Forward Operating Bases in Ngala Local Government Area.

Abba was captured during a counter attack operation launched by the troops following an attack at their location. As narrated by Abba, 8 of his BHT colleagues were killed. Also recovered from the BHTs were 3 AK 47 rifles, 2 AK 47 magazines, 2 FN rifle magazines and 3 PKM link belts.

The surviving terrorist was full of joy and praises for his survival. He thanked the Nigerian Army for sparing his life and taking care of his wounds.

He said that he and his other BHT colleagues were subdued by superior fire power of the troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE. He further recounted that his other fleeing BHT colleagues abandoned him to his fate after he was hit by a bullet. To worsen his situation one of his legs was crushed by their own vehicle as they scampered for safety. He said, “if the troops had not taken him and administered first aid on him he would have bled to death”, adding that he owes his life to the good treatment received from the troops.

Abba Mustapha said though he lost a limb in the cause of the fighting owing to the heartless abandonment by his fellow terrorists, he thanked God that he is stable and recuperating in hospital.

i have seen about two of those guys in war front in the north east ... i dont just understand the rule of procurement they are doing. some use T21, AK103, polish Beryl, a variant of HK G36 and other variants of AK47's. they should standardise please and stop experimenting

Be specific what variant of the Heckler and Koch G36 are you talking about. And a variant implies licenced or aa in the case clever theft of technology and adaptation, which is what the Mexicans did with the FX-05.

The Beryl we procured is a AK47 variant a considerable improvement on the standard AK47 with far less recoil and a claimed range of 600 meters.

The Nigerian police should have at least 300 of these BRT 60.

These are obviously used and cleaned up and painted over. They should really have the modern turrets with 30mm cannons.

The entire eastern block is awash with these vehicles they cost a lot cheaper than a brand new soft skinned pick up truck.

If they have such huge amount, honestly in my own opinion then 200 of them should be transfered to the NA.

We are riding around in soft skinned pick-up trucks after spending millions home and abroad training our guys. We then put them in the back of a pick up truck.

Complete irresponsible madness.

How does it cost to put every soldiers and thier passengers in a armoured vehicle. Far less than it costs for all the official cars used by the national assembly of which some are even armoured.

Add the 120 CS/VP3 MRAPs and 47 Reva MRAPs ordered, we are building our armoured mobility.

There is also the 9 ARA MRAPs ordered from Proforce.

Off-course we need a minimum of 2000 MRAPs, but at least, something is being done.

Yeap not only the military(airforce,navy & army) where trained in the north east europe, police & DSS where also amongst them.

Yes, he is NPF Special Forces. We also trained police officers in Belarus.

With the present governing military administration its 2-3 years max.

The new tip of the spear to replace AFSF will probably be the guys who just returned from Pakistan.

Bear in mind the above statement does not apply to elite forces like the 72 and SBS.

Note not all AFSF where in the N.E, when they came from the northeast Europe. Some served in other part of conflict area and some instructors but majority served in the N.E immediately they came from Europe.

They will be greatly missed for there experience, especially when the COAS has given the theatre commander a deadline to kill or capture shekau....
