A mother and her daughter have been found dead after an uncompleted building located at Seidu Ekeleji Street, Alaro, Meiran in the Agbado - Oke Odo area of Lagos, collapsed today.

It was gathered that the woman and her children were washing clothes in the building, when it collapsed on them this afternoon. Lagos state Emergency Management Agency LASEMA and RRS officials have already rescued one person from the rubbles, and also working to rescue more occupants of the building who are trapped under.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost their loved ones in this tragedy. The government should ensure better adherence to standards and building codes. This has gotten out of hand and it can no longer be tolerated.
