With the present governing military administration its 2-3 years max.

What? That's quite unfair on any soldier. Not being prescriptive but here's how we do it:
1) On external deployment - 12 months: 1 battalion in the field (DRC); 1 training to replace/rotate; 1 having come back and busy with courses as per career planning and R&R;
Which means 3 battalions not available for any new developments for 12 months as per UN requirements.

2) Internal deployments on border patrol - 6 months: almost 4 battalions in the field;
Leaves only 2 battalions on rapid deployment for new developments; hence the chronic calls for expansion, not because of "hegemonic agendas" and wanting to check so-called "giant of this and that".

The Motorised Infantry Orbat I've outlined above proves we need 3 more battalions to remain faithful to our doctrine of 1 battalion and 2 in reserve.

Of course, we've ameliorated this somewhat with our Reserve Forces.
And as someone in uniform, I can not conceive a 2-3 year deployment. I really hope and pray your government pays better attention to the social welfare of all these selfless men and women.

Unfortunately, not the same situation. The vast majority of the troops deployed spend 2 years on average.

Sacrifices for the greater good have to be made, the military is also very stretched as it is. It is Nigerians who would bring peace and fight the fight for Nigerians, no one else.

You have the luxury of doing cross-country motorbike trips, i'm sure the blokes on deployment in the NE also want that too, but who would protect defenceless Nigerians from marauding fanatics?

Like i said, it is not good, that doesn't make it bad. Circumstances are not the same.

You need to first take that into account. Have you taken out time to understand why deployments last that long?

Was this the same before Boko-Haram?

Before the present military administration, soldiers complained of spending more than 3 years in the frontline and was part of the problem the present military chief faced when they just came in.

True the military is overstretched and there is nothing that could be done to salvage the situation on time.

I know the costs on a personal level.

Note not all AFSF where in the N.E, when they came from the northeast Europe. Some served in other part of conflict area and some instructors but majority served in the N.E immediately they came from Europe.

They will be greatly missed for there experience, especially when the COAS has given the theatre commander a deadline to kill or capture shekau....

The AFSF comprises of the army,navy,airforce and the police. And they where trained in Russia & Belarus.

The 72MSF where trained Here in Nigeria by a PMC.

The reason why @ jajesporeshenko made mentioned of the 72msf is that majority of the AFSF has spent over two active years on the frontline and they are due for rotation or to come home.

Now the 72msf would probably saddled with the task or role of the AFSF.

Spot on, however it’s important to note that the 72 existed before the few weeks of training by the PMC, look at is as conversion training, learning to fight a different type of enemy.

There are also men of Army headquarters strike group also know as AHQSG.

Before we begin to confuse ourselves there are 3 known SF battalion in public space
• The 72nd SF Bn based at makurdi
• 111 SF bn
• 133 SF bn
Furthermore the 72 Strike force
As far as I know they are under NASOC which was established circa 2014
However because the DHQ refuses to comment on these warriors we r left to scavenge for information

in the theatre (both North central-North East) we've heard of the AH SG(Strike group)- I am led to bliv these is where the Rangers a'la 72MSF fall under
We've also heard of 133SF bn which had an IED experience of recently.
However we have the AFSF which is the Tri-service SF and they take their orders and missions from ONSA

I just wish they could make things clearer

The Nigerian police should have at least 300 of these BRT 60.

These are obviously used and cleaned up and painted over. They should really have the modern turrets with 30mm cannons.

The entire eastern block is awash with these vehicles they cost a lot cheaper than a brand new soft skinned pick up truck.

Police + BTR + 30mm cannon = syntax error!!!

They are new, because I know a navy sailor who was among the guys that went to Pakistan, they weren’t selected from SF.
And the reason I want to assume that the guys fresh from Pakistan are replacing the AFSF Bn is because they are entering the NE same time AFSF Is being rotated out of that area.

but jeez 440 operators..that's quite a lot- E b like say awa EBA don harden dz ones pass selection

Methinks they'd be shared into the three SF Bns and thereafter thrust In the business..of course that will be at the discretion of NASOC
