If i happen to rule any state in Nigeria, I will ban Sachet water and Plastic/foamy take aways plates.
plastics are doing worse to the economy more than fossil fuels. This should even be the priority of the climate pact and not fossil fuel. It's expensive and ha t recycle. Thing again is, when oil prices dip, there are more plastics produced. To me, it is doing worst.

I heard Lagos state generates more tonnes of waste than New York.

If this waste can be properly disposed and recycled, this could lead to a big interest and sudden boom in the waste recycling business.

I have interest in it but it is a very capital intensive business. Waste can even be recycled into biogas but the Nigerian system is just too difficult to maneuver.

The recycling business has started already, hence the company VisionScape.
depends on the waste. Plastics are expensive to recycle and not all can be recycled.

plastics are hard to recycle. The best option is to use them in making building materials i.e concrete.

Yeah...but I don't think it's only for recycling purposes.im hearing something about using them to generate electricity.

Right! but they can be exported to China or other countries, and how can plastic be turned into concrete? I mean, what kind of machinery would be needed for that? are there any market for these concrete?

We are our own problems, how can someone dispose his/her refuse in the gutter or canal and conveniently go to sleep.

I don't mean to sound offensive but truth must be told.. Igbos are somewhat dirty, maybe not all but majority of them are.

I have them in my area so I know how they behave. You'll see 10 of them living in one room in a house with only one bathroom & toilet and nowhere to dump refuse. They pack their dirts and throw them insyd gutter on in someone else's compound.
They do it mostly at night when noone will see them.. I begin to wonder, is it by force to live in SW? what's wrong with the East that's making them all run.

It's a very sad thing really.. Lagos was not this dirty before influx of igbos.

This shows the difference between the Fashola and Ambode administration. The former tries to prevent the situation while the latter tries to manage the aftermath.

what u said is a good idea oo,but gypsey hmmmm the cost is not a childs play, but the profit margin is extremely lucrative especially in nigeria..

While a lot of people are actively involved in
plastic recycling, they face a major challenge;
an adequate startup capital. The startup
capital for running a plastic recycling factory
is on a high end. It’s estimated to cost about
25 million Naira ($84,000) to set up a plastic
recycling factory. This cost is extremely high
for the common man because of the cost of
building the factory, purchasing the recycling
machines, and many other factors. But around
every problem, there’s a solution or two
lurking around the corner. Rather than setting
up a plastic recycling factory, recycling
businesses are springing up that focus
majorly on the collection and distribution of
plastic bottle wastes to plastic recyclers.

For me if I have any small free cash I will just focused on collection and distribution of plastic bottle wastes to plastic recyclers...

Yes, there is. There is a company doing that already in Argentina. It is called arqlite. They convert plastics to a gravel like structure that is being used in road construction.

just imagine the dirts being packed from the streets...

ND some people would come here to blame Fashola..... smh

Lagos was clean during Fashola's time, not until Ambode came in and allowed igbos dictate what and what not to be done in a Yoruba state.

Imagine an Igbo Lawyer dragging Lagos govt. to court over monthly sanitation.. and those mumu ones too allowed the court process fly.

Believe it or not, that monthly sanitation had a lot of benefits to Lagosians but the wawa outsider came and stopped it.

I don't know what Ambode has in mind letting Igbo people give orders in Lagos.. If it's re-election, he already has it 100% with his performance so far.
I just hope Lagos won't be as dirty as Aba and Onitsha when he leaves office.

Lols, they are taking them to kunu and local gin sellers. In a short time, exporting to that company will be big business.

Oh, well I don't know much about the financial strength you must have to start.

Have you heard of we-recyclers or something. They operate too in Lagos and got investor funding. You might wanna check out their own model and know how they operate.
