This shows the difference between the Fashola and Ambode administration. The former tries to prevent the situation while the latter tries to cure the aftermath.

The former had already a waste program policy in place which all that needed to be done by the latter was to improve on it and make it more efficient.

But No, the latter wants to starts its own and not be associated with the former. sad

Yes, there is. There is a company doing that already in Argentina. It is called arqlite. They convert plastics to a gravel like structure that is being used in road construction.

All the people shouting the residents should be fined should respond based on facts, the area is surrounded by mushin, idi oro and luth and these places have their canals. This is flood and flood is water and water carries things. Please use ur common sense and stop wasting ur brain. And by the way, that canal hasn't been cleared for the last eight years.

Yesterday, there was a flood crisis in Akobi crescent Lagos, largely due to failure of residents to properly clean their environment from time to time.
After the rains, dirt washed up the streets making it impossible for the water to dry out.

Thankfully Governor Ambode came to the rescue sending sending teams from the Visionscape and Cleaner Lagos initiative to help clear out the debris.
It is good to know that you monitor the area to know if they properly clean their environment or not. With ur level of education, you are meant to decipher between canal and gutter. So,for your mind now, those dirts u see there are from the gutter. Bro, ur IQ needs to be reloaded. Don't say what you don't know,so because they want to keep their environment clean, they should enter the canal to clean it abi.

I don't know why some people have this bad mentality of disposing refuse on drainage system which is meant to curtail flood. The residence in most affected mainland area need to desist from this shameful act

All the people need is continuous sensitization, discipline and sometimes coercion.

Ambode should not have stopped "The Spirit of Lagos" sensitization program that was meant to orientate the Lagosian.

Fashola started many laudable programs that ensures proper maintenance of Lagos State but Ambode because of his personal issues with Fashola cancels most of them.

Hope he turns a new leaf

You have to learn how to use ur punctuation properly. The commas scattered all over the comment are not suppose to be there. Allow your sentences flow to give better meaning to your write up. I checked your profile picture, you're very pretty, I must confess.

There was once a Governor who set aside a day for general cleanup in cognizant of the fact that some persons want to be coerced and threatened with punishment for them to carry out that which is expected of them..... Everything was going fine, flood came but didn't caused any monumental disaster based on the mechanism put in place for mitigation.

After a time there comes one other sat through everything and decided to end general cleanup day. The lazy masses among them were happy and sat their ass down. The season of reckoning dawn on them the resultant effects was unbearable and unmanageable.

I recommend a fine of 1m naira or 36months jail term with hard labour for any body caught dumping refuse in drainage. If people are not careful, there could be some outbreak in that vicinity

I wish their area was flooded sha, cause they deserve it

Thats not a good wish sir/ma. The people of the street might be suffering from the ills of the society at large. The level of their street play a big role here. If their road level is lower than those of other streets around them, water would wash all the dirts on those roads and dump it on their street because of its low level.

This is where i see it from. We are all to be blamed.

lagos is working, ambode is working but gutter has refused to work.

But those debris are not supposed to go through drainage. I know there is a canal off that cresent and this shouldn't have happened if not for the bad behaviours of the people living in that area.

Opportunity of investing in real estate most especially for the future are still abounding massively in Ikorodu. I can tell you categorically that the road linking Ikorodu with lagos-ibadan expressway has already began.
Vast numbers of properties are still available now for sale and at affordable/lower price. Invest in them now before its too late when the price will begin to spring up.
It's only normal to bear in mind that the road will be a dualized road with 4 pedestrian bridges starting from Agric junction and ends at arepo. Berger-isheri road is also an adjoining road to the new expressway.
If interested in getting a property now, you can contact us.

Action man. The only issue I have with this is that it's just short term. We need to find a lasting solution to this flood issue

And the people living in that area should have been heavily fined

Good the government will make more money. Innocent will suffer for the unjust and then people will shout out that they are making life unbearable. I don't know how we think though but shouldn't it better to keep our self from arm by being patriotic and sending caution where & when we see defaulter rather than inflicting ourselves with more pain. What goes round will always come around. If it starts today your area will not be exempted even your state will adopt same style and call it revenue.

Good Morning Nairalanders!

It wasn't the governors fault its we the people that has refused to keep the bolt in our head. Some useless, clueless and brainless personality took the government to court and then said that the sanitation plan was disturbing people from moving around hence it should be cancelled. No sane government will end such policy without a better plan but our people, are the main problem of the country. We fleece everywhere with our own selfish agenda forgetting eventual outcome. We have refused to be futuristic rather we enjoy short term gain. NFAs
