More kicks have been given to the planned election boycott ordered by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

New among the notables to speak against the order is the Obi Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, who dismissed the order, stating that the election must hold and no one could stop it from happening.#NigeriaYouthsAriseForTrueDemocracy-Worldwide

Igwe Achebe who is also the Chairman of Anambra State Traditional Ruler’s Council made the statement when the State leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo led by Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene visited him in his palace, today, Wednesday.

His words: “The election is for us not for the entire country. You cannot have a referendum in one part of the country without carrying other parts of the country along and the government must support and sponsor it before it will be organized and not curving out some part of the country for the referendum. The election must hold and nobody or group of persons will stop it. Nobody should come to the state to cause unnecessary tension”.

“Our people should come home to invest in industry, factory, build schools and hospitals that will be beneficial to our people. We need non partisan strong institution to create good environment for development. I commend the new Ohanaeze Ndigbo leadership both at the national and state level for their efforts within six months to unite Ndigbo” Achebe stated.

In his remarks, the State Ohanaeze Chairman, Chief Okeke-Ogene said they visited the traditional ruler to show respect and to carry the traditional institution along in whatever they do as custodian of culture in Igbo land.

“There is nothing will do without you. If there is any case that is beyond us, we will consult you for advise and possible resolution. Obi of Onitsha is bridge between the people and the government and his throne is falling point for Ndigbo, Onitsha culture is a complete and standard that other Igbo land emulates”.

He said that the group had already condemned the call by IPOB leader to boycott governorship election in the state, saying that election must hold “Nobody who fought war will like to fight again. So we should be fighting war of sense and not physical war to being Ndigbo into the main stream in the country.”

Anambra or Omanbala like you've written is just a state, a geopolitical boundary created in 1991, prior that date,there was nothing like Anambra state.
If majority of Igbo people in Anambra are fed up with the status quo in Nigeria and give their support to Nnamdi Kanu, who is a bonafide igbo son,there is nothing you and your obi can do about it.
Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi and Imo are mere political boundaries, they are not a homogenous group. Why would a reasonable person say 'my ndi anambra will not listen to anyone from another igbo state'.
Why push a mere state above a collective Igbo interest? Smh!
Igbo people accepted Azikiwe, Ojukwu and Nzeogwu in the 60s regardless of their states but your foolishhness make you look down on other igbos because they are not your state.
It is Ok to say you don't like Kanu and wouldn't obey him but why treat him like he is less than ndi Anambra.

We will like to hear our Obi condemn the murder of innocent protesters, women and children by the Military that swore to protect them.

The Obi needs to condemn rape of women and children in their village farm by Fulani Herdsmen.

If the Obi can remain mute about the plight of Ndiigbo then he constitute part of the problem Ndiigbo face.

People should keep quite already, votes will be recorded but turnout will be low. Stop making it look as if no one will vote and a military administrator will be imposed.

I really admire kanu's courage n doggedness but he needs to know that "when pride comes in as a result of success,men begin to fall from grace to grass". KANU need to be circumspect in his agitations,boycotting the anambra elections is I'll advice, one would expect him to encourage ndi anambra to stick with APGA the brain child of ojukwu n bid his time,by stroke of luck kanu's struggle has awaken tremendous conscience among Nigerians if only he would key into the restructuring desire of most deprived Nigerians, success would have been sure than never,but I'm afraid KANU is pushing his chi too far.

The number of people that die during electioneering period in Nigeria is alarming.
