persius555:Apparently on their way to rescue the hostages, the rescue party got ambushed at 2 different points, either BHTs are getting good intelligence from somebody (snitches) or the abduction was a way to lure troops out to a certain area. |

peterphd:Army rangers are combination of special operations and elite airborne light infantry. The regiment is flexible, highly trained and rapid light infantry unit specialized to be employed against any special operations targets.Traditionally they are spearheaders, raiders, and scouts, they have adapted to quick response airborne operations. (In contrast, Special Forces handle covert missions). And most countries have there rangers just like Nigeria. But you know U.S army and some developed European army has a well standard and equipped ranger due to there theatre experience and being well equipped. |

AIR FORCE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY GRADUATES 249 STUDENTS The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna today graduated 249 students in various aerospace engineering and related fields at its 46th Convocation Ceremony. The graduation ceremony, which held in the Institute’s recently commissioned Ibrahim Alfa Auditorium, witnessed the conferment of diplomas and presentation of certificates to graduating students from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force and civilians. In all, there were 11, 109 and 129 Post Graduate Diploma, Higher National Diploma and National Diploma graduands respectively, out of which 122 were civilians. Speaking at the convocation ceremony, the Guest of Honour, the Honourable Minister of Transportation, Right Honourable Chibueke Rotimi Amaechi acknowledged the place of AFIT as a trailblazer in West Africa. He recalled, with satisfaction, the feat achieved by the Institute in locally designing and manufacturing an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, which was successfully test flown, a first in West Africa, among other achievements. He also congratulated the graduating students, urging them to be worthy ambassadors of AFIT for the benefit of Nigeria. In addition, he reserved special praises for the various award winners and requested them to live up to expectation in their future endeavours. Furthermore, Right Honourable Amaechi praised the visionary and sterling leadership qualities of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, whose tenure in office has witnessed a lot of infrastructural and academic developments in AFIT. In his remarks at the occasion, Air Marshal Abubakar, who is also the Chairman AFIT Governing Council and Visitor to the Institute, enjoined the graduands to be good ambassadors of AFIT, noting that their invaluable contributions would be much appreciated in the fast growing and increasing quest for technological advancement in the NAF and in the country at large. “Let me remind the graduating students that the NAF is currently increasing in size, scope of operations and sophistication in the application of technology. Based on this development, the knowledge you have gained in the past one or two years would definitely be put to task”, he said. He further stated that the graduands would be required to speedily develop proficiency and innovate indigenous ways to maintain platforms and improve on equipment serviceability. Goodwill messages from other academic institutions delivered to the Institute. After the ceremony, invited guests visited the Institute’s exhibition stand, which featured products of students’ research efforts. DOPRI
