Please why are you guys like this , first and foremost power generation as of today is below 3000 MWS so I wonder where you got your 6000MWs from , secondly you say that private sector is now responsible for power just like MTN is in communications then why is Fashola interest always in making sure the tariffs get increased so much he has been acting like thier spokesman on this issue ...And if Generation is 6000Mws like you clearly lied above why do I have just two hours of electricity as against 16 to 18 hours even under the poor leadership of Jonathan's govt ..I tell you I have never had electricity supply this bad

By installed capacity I meant under the clumsy Jonathan Nigeria had already enough power plants that could generate over 9000 MWs but many of the where incapacitated by lack fuel (gas) supply so bad that some didn't have Gas trains or pipelines heading their way ..
Why not show us a media link of the Jonathan regime achieving 9000MW installed capacity as at May 2015?

Anybody can bandy about wild figures. What we need is a reliable source.

Conceived?

So a new power station can be conceived and still executed under 1year's budget?

Why do humans so easily betray their hypocrisy and prejudices?

So should Fashola have abandoned projects of the last administration to settle a political score?

Are you therefore saying that if you are suffering epileptic power supply and wailing aimlessly about it as It has become obvious to many, then it is the fault of Jonathan's regime who did not conceive to give you steady power as at mid 2017?

So what exactly is this unnecessary debate about?
No we are currently suffering epileptic power supply because the Discos keep rejecting power from GENCOs so thy can actually sell Darkness under guise of estimated bills and the truth is Fashola must be in cahoots with them to RIP Nigerians because I don't see why he is always more interested in Tarriffs increase than the distribution of prepaid meter just the same way he was always interested in completing the Lekki toll gate first instead of completing the mere 35 kms road first and you can see that despite collecting tolls for nearly 8 years on that road he never completed it just like now he wants tarriffs increase before supply of power can improve ..who thinks like that abeg if not a criminal

You are really pathetic

One minute you are claiming Fashola is working and adding to the grid and now you are saying one year is too small to finish a power plant.

So from where is the power projected output of 6000mw coming from?

During OBJ we had an installed capacity of under 3000mw which GEJ doubled to 6000MW in just 5yrs.

If under GEJ we witnessed double our total power capacity since 1960, how many watts has your over sabi Fashola added? Answer : not a single light bulb wattage!

Here is a link below that clearly states that by Dec 2012 Nigeria already had a capacity for nearly 7000MWs and with the Jonathan govt adding an average of 450Mws per year you will see it got to 9000Mws and I remember it was even announce by the govt

Funniest thing is that even your Fashola is siding with the Power plants citing forex restraints and energy theft beleaging the sector.

Stop blaming Jonathan.

The last administration doubled the installed capacity you had since independence to 6000mw in just 5yrs.

Even the link say Nigeria to achieve 10,000MW ....

So was it achieved?

Should I also show the the link from the power industry technocrats saying Nigeria to achieve 6000MW as at 2016?

I already trounced your logic.

Whatever Jonathan achieved which obviously wasn't 6000MW, are we to award it to the Obasanjo and Yar Adua regime because they conceived It?

Was Jonathan not meant to complete what he inherited?

Was Buhari/Fashola not meant to complete projects they inherited because they did not conceive it?

So why are you condemning Fashola when you already know that Jonathan did not conceive for you to have uninterrupted power as at mid 2017?

Or did Fashola sabotage or abandon any power project of the Jonathan regime?

Or did I ever argue that Fashola must have conceived a power project to take the glory for its completion during his own tenure?

Can you please show me where I made such assertion?

If not, you are just running around in circles defeating your own argument.

Is it Fashola that is meant to give you prepaid meter or is it the PRIVATELY OWNED DISCOS?...

Just like someone above asked, when MTN or GLO gives you poor reception and saps your credit, have you ever run out to blame the communications' minister of being the worst?
Aren't the discos regulated by bodies under Fashola? Please stop using telcos as example. NCC is under minister of communications just like NERC and other power regulatory body are under Fashola. Plus Fashola also promised us prepaid meter.

Worst because you have ever had an installed capacity of 6000MW of power before in Nigeria?

Or worst because he was the minister when power supply in Nigeria transitioned from steady power from post independence to epileptic power post civil war?

Or worst because he is the 1st power minister who inherited the epileptic power situation and did not manage to restore constant power under a ministerial tenure that will only be 2yrs by September 2017 ?

Or worst because he hid his magic wand that would have restored power overnight, and decided to plan and budget and implement like human muggles are constrained to do without the power of witch-craft?

Instead of sleeping at night, some people just keep awake, putting too much pressure on their already sleeping brain.
Or because privatization of the power sector now means Fashola is a power generator and distributor.

The OP asked the question simply because of ignorance and not knowing that the industry is now private and no longer government owned or controlled.

The questions the OP should be asking is what happened to the $20 billion power funds the past PDP/Jona administration budgeted and looted that gave us nothing but darkness.

Also what 16 years of PDP didn't give us 24/7 power supply

Also why the PDP/Jona sold and privatized the power sector to their cronies and friends with zero knowledge about power generation and distribution and even no money to invest and improve operations.

Okay... That's fine. If you truly attack the NCC chairman and the communications minister whenever you get poor mtn or Glo network as you claim, then there's nothing strange in you attacking the power minister for the ineptitude of the DISCOS.

What is my point?... My point is that since 2014 or so when the DISCOS where handed over to private establishments, there's not much authority the power minister has over them anymore; I even doubt the minister has the power to sack the ditectors of the DISCOS. Except you want the entire privatization to be reversed and the DISCOS handed back to govt, but that would even be a disastrous move as it would attract a protracted litigation which may even ensure the nation is kept in total darkness for a decade.

He definitely can not sack or touch any private individual in the private sector.

The posters you are quoting obviously don't know the meaning of privatization, they hear power minister and automatically think the minister is the reason why they don't have power.

It's lack of education.

You have described a typical Nigerian problem that has long persisted. So you need to tell us what actions or inactions of Fashola has qualified him for the title of worst power minister?

Now if installed capacity is at its highest, but the necessary fuels/raw material is lacking due to reasons that range from low water levels that affect hydro power generators, or interrupted supplies from the petroleum industry due to acts of vandalism and sabotage that is even celebrated by a section of the tribal and political spectrum, is that culmination of your power situation the fault of the minister of power?

Simply put, Fashola inherited a power problem and has had just 1 single budget yet (2016 budget) to fix a decades long problem. His 2nd budget has only been recently passed with much debate with the parliament over what might have been removed or not removed from the planned capital projects.

Do you expect that a single year's budget (2016) for his own power agenda since he resumed office in September 2015, is enough to make a marked difference in the moribund power sector even when such budget was strewn together while experiencing a recession?
just shut up and stop defending mediocrity. Stop making excuses for failure. Prior to his emergence as Power minister, he was quoted as saying, "Any government which is incapable of fixing our power problem within one year is a failure". That was probably the reason Buhari felt he had the magic wand to the power problem, and subsequently placed the ministry in his grip.
If u are husband media officer, go back and inform him that Nigerians are not happy with the power situation. That he should stop supplying his power on the pages of newspapers. But should actually allow householders see the light.
