The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old father of five, who allegedly beat his girlfriend to death over suspected infidelity, on the deceased’s birthday, July 28.

It was gathered that the deceased, identified simply as Happiness, visited her lover’s home at 5/7 Michael Osisipi Street, off Banjo Oyewele Street, Ago Palace Way, from where they went to a club around the area to celebrate her birthday.

Trouble, as gathered, started after the suspect, Victor Umeh, sighted Happiness discussing with a man, discovered to be her former boyfriend. The discussion, according to Umeh, a trader at Ladipo Market, lasted over 15 minutes.

He reportedly left the club in anger, leaving the deceased behind. Time was 12.45a.m. On realising that Umeh had left, Happiness went to his house, where an argument that degenerated into a fight ensued.

Her shout for help alerted neighbours. On reaching Umeh’s flat, he was reportedly seen trying to hide a substance, which turned out to be late Happiness’ mobile telephone.

The curious neighbours were said to have searched the flat for the victim, only to discover her lifeless body behind Umeh’s window. Policemen at Ago Division were immediately contacted and Umeh was arrested.

Investigation revealed that the incident happened during the period Umeh’s wife and five children travelled to his village in Anambra State.

It's almost impossible to be good looking when in great distress. Imagine what you would look like when paraded by the police for riding your sugar daddy to death in a hotel room.

Every married man I know in real life has more chicks at his mercy than the average single guy. It is married men that use all the hotels littered around. Otherwise, the hotel business in Nigeria wouldn't be lucrative.

Most Nigerian girls in the real world have slept with (and are sleeping with or would some day sleep with) married men... . Superiors in the office, benefactors, lecturers, pastors, favour givers, etc. It is just a daily occurrence that can NEVER stop.

* Many wives buy gifts for their husbands only when they are hospitalized.

* The only time they go for evening stroll is when they want to go and lay a complain to the parents of the person that beat their child or got their daughter pregnant.

* The only time they bath together is when both are late for work.

* the only time a wife looks closely to her husband's eyes is when he complains of dirt in his eyes.

Unfortunately, Africans feel that any romantic man is being controlled by his wife.

They will begin to spread rumours around like: "chai, see as his'wife don carry juju cage am"

Fidelity, for men, is even deadlier. You get to miss out on the richness and fullness of experiences that life has to offer. Grave injustice to oneself, and to your hustle for money. Life is too short and meaningless to mindlessly latch on to ludicrous carnal loyalties.

Bad things happen often, to unlucky people.... Faithful or unfaithful, good or evil, holy or unholy. People who had never boarded a plane in their entire lives were killed by a plane crash, right in the supposed 'safety' of their own homes! Example: Dana Airline crash of June, 2012. Now, rationalise that. Same way faithful men get bleeped up by their own wives, and by the rest of the world. It's called time and chance, and it happens to even the best of them.

It's just the way life is. Don't attribute inevitable happenstance to one's life choices.
