Jaygrl, don't resign yet... Sit back and analyse the situation. There is always a way to go about it.

1. Take him along and keep in a creche close to your office. He's still young and has emotional attachment for you hence the cries. Your nanny can't play that role and may not be patient with him.

2. Stop force feeding! 1 in 3 children always have push backs when it comes to feeding. Since you are the mother, you can always figure a way around it. I resumed work when my daughter was 2 months old and she also rejected the bottle! I bought different types, yet nothing!

Solution : we fed her with syringe. I breastfeed in the morning before I leave. Since you will be taking him along, breastfeed on the way before you get to the creche.

Pop in at break time, breast feed and play with him then go back to work. I went home (cos baby was at grannies) every break till she was 7 months old.

Keep trying but ensure he's not force fed. Let them sing along while feeding. When he gets to 4 months, you can introduce cereal.

Pele dear. It can really be frustrating for a first time mum
We try to sing, dance for him while he eats. I have tried the syringe thing too, when he is crying and struggling it just keeps hitting his gum. The creches in VI where I work are quite pricey, the distance from where I work to where I live is quite far,I won't want to put him through that stress everyday,I don't have my personal car I use a bus....Thanks for replying promptly

Mamas I got tempted by all this sumptuous purees u people are talking about here. I decided to give my 5mths+ exclusively breastfeed baby banana puree and apple puree separately and he took it very well but I noticed he had to push so hard poop he cried so hard when he pooped and when I checked his diaper and I could pick the poop off the diaper to tell u how hard it was. Hubby had to force him to drink water cos he doesn't like it.
I tot fruit helps people to poop easily? Pls what didn't I do right?

Banana and apple puree (applesauce) can be constipating for babies depending on the quantity u give, So u don't give so much at a time.
I ensure she takes enough water whenever she takes banana or applesauce.

U did nothing wrong my dear

Hey mamas,I am thinking of just resigning from work to take care of my LO. I resumed back to work last week just as he turned 3months old.  Mamas advice me oooooo

I think about this same issue everyday since I put to bed. DS is 3 weeks old 2day, I have 9 more weeks as mat leave. Hubby and I don't work in d same state, presently spending mat leave with him, I live and work on the island in lagos

Hubby wants me to resign but his present take home salary isnt enough to feed 3 of us cos of present economy

My parents/siblings at times depend on d little I earn as no amount dey earn is enough considering cost of leaving

How do I cope financially if I resign

How do I go back with a 3 month old son to lagos

No constant light supply where I live so no wsy to depend on refrigerating breast milk

Does it mean I have to wean him so early

Getting a nanny is not an option as I live in a room self contain

Mother cant follow me cos she had her own work
Hubby is presently saying if I insist on going back maybe I should leave our son with him as he stays in a far more comfortable apartment. How is that possible

Have submitted several cv here but....how do I even cope with not having a source of income

Chai... i think 2 banana is too much o.
I don't give more than 1 banana cos Banana is very filling. Even me as an adult, I sometimes take banana alone for dinner.

If it's a very big apple, I share it into 2 and freeze the remaining for the following day.

Hallos, i don show cool cool
eheeen, so here is what we do...

fruits - Banana puree, apple puree, avocado puree

cereals - Gerber oatmeal, Nutribom rice, nutribom multigrain, Cerelac (any of their combos), nutribom maize

Home made foods - Plaintain+titus fish puree, Sweet potato+titus fish puree, any other new meal we have tried and she likes.

August secrets nuttymeal, August secrets mixagrain,

Her daily meal is a combination of one or 2 foods food from each of the above groups and then milk (formula) feeds as well.

Example, for today I packed - 2 milk feeds + August secrets Mixagrain + Plantain fish puree + Cerelac.
She had breastmilk very early in the morning B4 we left the house(5.30/6am ish) and then around 8am she will have her mixagrain. Later in the day her nanny rotates the formula feed and other solids for her.
Most days she finishes all her food, but there are days when we have mostly 1 milk feed left, In such a case we take the milk for dinner and then breastfeed all night till the following morning.

I just try to vary her food so she isn't eating the same thing every day.

On the days when we have exhausted our home-made foods, we just do august secrets + cereals + formula feeds.

For cereals I also mix; Cerelac + nutribom or Gerber+cerelac or Gerber+Nutribom

* We try new meals on weekends, so I can see her reaction and how well she takes it. If she likes it, then I incorporate it into her weekday schedule.
*She likes boiled egg yolk, so I give her at nights when we are home (not everyday o), cos i feel it may get spoilt if i have to pack it in the morning and they wait till later to feed it to her.
*Fruit Purees are for snacking, more like an in-between meals kinda thing, cos e no de belleful her again. We also take fruit purees as dinner and then use bre.astmilk to support
*August secret veggie beans is for weekends too. She isn't a fan of it jare so I didnt include it in her weekday schedule.
* I add formula to her August secrets food except veggie beans

Chai! I can't believe all I just typed, e b like project defence speech grin grin

YES YES AND YES!!! YOU CAN, YOU CAN , YOU CAN!!!. People leaving abroad with no family around do it so you can do it. A quote from a favorite novel says " YOU CAN IF YOU THINK YOU CAN". Please dont leave your job because there is no job outside and your family needs it.
My question to you is: Do you have a younger sister that can help or from your husband family? If yes, please let her help out and if NO, look for a creche closer to your office and pop in at your free period. If your HR is the friendly ones let them know what you are going through am sure they will be glad to give you some little bit freedom to pop in and check your lo.
I stay alone in another country and this is what i do and God has been helping me so far. Earlier my sister was with me but let me tell you the fact, she doesn't really do much for me apart from carrying my baby. I bath my LO, even cook for her when i come back from work but all these make me a stronger lady because immediately she left i didnt even miss her for once. SO AM VERY SURE YOU CAN. Please don't leave your work. God will help you.

Let me share my perspective. My husband is also not based in Lagos. This is the reason why I had to get a help (Not nanny) She helps with house chores, errands, carrying baby sometimes when I need to bathe etc. My baby goes to a creche in my estate so drop off and pick up is convenient (I'd have considered near my office but cos I work quite far and the traffic has Oyo tribal marks). For you a creche near the office may work if you want to pop in during your break, there's no option to pop in where I work. But what helped me:

1. A good breast pump if you want to continue exclusive. Also regular light. If these aren't options forget it. You'll have to combi-feed (breast when you can and formula other times). My baby is combi-fed and very healthy
2. You need to start your LO on bottle feeding at least a month before you resume so he gets used to it
3. Get the creche before you resume if possible and start dropping him for a few hours every day just to ease the separation anxiety
4. Keep applying for a job in your husband's location, by God's grace it will work out

This na A+ but .Pls can I feed my baby cereal fruit puree from bottle or It's just plate. Will start my baby on solid next month I am trying to decide on which formula for him. I suggested SMA gold but hubby with to the mail saw it and said its too cheap that he wants Aptamil or similac . He prefers similac but the trusted shop we can get it don't have . Is Aptamil better than cow and gate? How many cups of formula do babies take on the average in a month?

I started feeding cereal and all solids (puree inclusive) with plate and spoon from 6 months. Reason being it's easier to wash and I dont want to start worrying about food being stuck in the teat of the bottle.
Also assuming u want to give ur LO baby okro soup, u go use bottle? lol

we have been on SMA gold from birth (my DD is combi-fed) and it's been very nice for her. The 900g tin we use is 6k (depending on where u buy). I haven't used aptamil or similac b4.
My DD consumes 2 tins of 900g SMA gold in a month, sometimes i have to buy an extra 400g b4 the end of the month. I wouldn't know how much ur LO will take, considering that apetites vary.

Good morning Mama's, thanks for the love yesterday. I'm grateful.

The result is out, no infection in the poo or Cholera. Told doc her feeding routine, she reacts badly to soybeans and the first and last time I gave her that was at 7months.
He asked me if I introduced anything new to her.
She poop now and the texture is normal, vomits mucous when she coughs.
They'll discharge us today around evening, they want to monitor her till around 5.

Introduced toothbrush last week for her, was it the paste (she always swallow everything). I'm using Maclean but for babies 0-3years. Is like I'll go back to sacrificing my fingers to her mouth/teeth/tongue.

May God guard and bless our children.

it's been a while o! How's you and dd? Use pure honey as her body cream it will fade the spots overtime. Sadly there's nothing safe to use on an infant that I know of! Unless you want to leave it till she's a teenager to start using toning and spot remover gels.

Bio oil is good for spots too but it's advised to use on children from 2yearz up wards.

Honey will take time but it's by far the safest plus your DDS skin will be luscious and glittering.

@luscioustrish :- damp wash cloth did it for me as DS teeth started coming out @ 14 months thereabout . Enjoy the mouth cleaning now ooo as when you want to start using brush as more comes out...na fight ooo.

Sabi mamas, how do you brush your toddlers teeth in peace without struggle?

@sansa143

Some babies sweat profusely during the deepest part of their nightly sleep cycle and end up soaking wet. Because babies spend much more time in this deepest stage of sleep, they're more likely to sweat during the night than adults or even older children.

Possible cause for concern: Sweating is very common, but excessive sweating could mean that something isn't right. For example, excessive sweating – especially when eating – can be a sign of congenital heart disease as well as various infections and sleep apnea. Overheating is also a risk factor for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) .

What to do about it: The room your baby sleeps in should be warm but not hot. Set the room temperature to a range that feels comfortable to a lightly clothed adult. Dress your baby in the amount of clothing that you'd be comfortable sleeping in without covers. Resist the urge to bundle her up and keep blankets, quilts, and comforters out of her crib.

As a rule of thumb, remember that if you're too hot, your baby probably is too. If the house is cool and your baby is dressed lightly and still sweating, talk with her doctor.

Jaygrl, don't be too worked up and pls don't even think of resigning abeg. I read somewhere that babies can never starve themselves. When I resumed work after mat leave hmmm, it wasn't easy too as we did exclusive for 6months, heres what I can advise.

NEPA: since u don't have constant power supply, buy iced blocked pure water, the blocked ones, express and store in the bottle and place those bottles with the blocked pure water, that stands as your makeshift fridge.

Milk supply: reduce thinking and stress as it would inhibit your milk production. Take better pap and milk etc and take your pump to work and express there. There should be a private place you can do that.

Bottles: look for bottles with nipples soft as breast like Dr browns bottles. Avent is quite hard although I don't know which one you use.

creche: I would have advised you take him to a creche close to where you work but since that's not the case for you, look for a creche around your home where a matured woman is one of the care givers not all these young ladies cos they look after babies well.
