I've been meaning to make this post for a while, since I read Queenhecate (I shuddered), Eksbabe (positive) and lately, Divie (thanking God it wasn't worse) birth stories. Congratulations mamas on your bundles of joy, they will forever bring you joy and happiness.

My country people and fellow mamas, I think it is high time we started including hospital names and reviews in our birth stories, it will go a long way in helping women make decisions during the research stage.

Fine, this country can be a s***hole when it comes to healthcare and mama alive, baby alive is all that we want at the end of the day, however, I also need good treatment from staff. No need for oversabi attention but just do your job effectively and efficiently. No insult me cos I fit break bottle for person head after pikin don dey my side.

When I started out looking for hospitals, people were saying general hospitals are the best in Nigeria and bla bla bla. I know someone who actually birthed in South Shore, VI. Spent a couple of cool millions because she and baby had some complications, they still ended up in a government hospital because of availability of doctors palaver.

I registered at GH Gbagada and St. Luke's Yaba but neither seems to be cutting it right now. GH Gbagada because I heard the mosquito situation in the maternity ward na die, no private rooms and the bathrooms are enough to make a grown woman cry. Fine, I know one of their consultants there and it's just 24 to 48 hours stay but still, it's enough that I won't be getting an epidural because, Nigeria. (praying to baba God for supernatural childbirth ooo), I certainly don't want to add avoidable situations like facilities to the mix.
St. Luke because, fear dey catch me say they might be understaffed. Not thaat I'm absolutely sure of this.

I looked into Gold Cross Ikoyi because I have a friend who used them many years back, however the reviews on ordinary Google leaves a lot to be desired.

I learned about MCC Gbaja years ago on this thread and had it at the back of my mind. I looked it up again recently but the latest reviews are from mama Zaynie 's set of 2015 (those women rocked, BIG time!!!)

Please and please, if anybody has current reviews of Gbaja, kindly share o. As things stand, I really would like to change hospitals.

Onegai, it sounds like you are in the health field and know a lot about this. Please ma, if you have any recommendations, private or government establishments kindly share with me o. Cost not a factor, I no mind spend my annual income on getting good healthcare and service. I'm not planning on complications etc God forbid but I want a positive experience. It is all in God's hand but at least I can handle picking a good and clean environment.

What I want from a hospital at this point is a good mix of both General and Private hospital advantages. The advantage that government has over private is expertise and availability of many doctors shey?

Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ooo, if any mama knows of any hospital in Lagos that is a perfect blend of both, kindly share with us. I stay in Yaba and can reach most parts of the mainland and ikoyi/VI quite easily. Even if the distance is an issue, please still share, it might be useful for someone else.

It is well with you my sis. My story will not be your story. As I said on my bs, I have actually used this particular hospital before and had a good experience to the extent that I recommended it to plenty of my people.
The difference between that birth story and the present one was the people involved and also because it is a government things and not much pokenosing is done into their activities. This is unlike the private hospital where you can be queried for what you have done.

Long story short, pray for a godly nurse who is experienced cos I met just the opposite. God protection on all of us.amen

Been wanting to park my trailer here for a while now since porting from TTC thread, on behalf of DW.

We will be in our 3rd trimester come 4th Aug. And edd is scheduled to be Nov 3rd. Baby gender is pointing towards XX, but we are still waiting on a second gender scan check, just to be sure.

Pesin wey never come my house before o, wey to answer greeting na problem for her o. Anyways, I take it as good news, that my bump is now showing well well
Hubby decided we should patronize her, but I told him if her things are too expensive I no go mind say we be neighbors o, I go dust my bumbum comot. May God provide for all of us jare.

At the bolded,I actually don't think that's so true(from my experience), I was recently discussing with somebody about how very professional the nurses in UCH ANC are. Even though I never gave birth Dre, I have used them in both my pregnancy and I was admitted there in both pregnancies for severe morning sickness and bleeding in pregnancy. I was prepared that I would have to cope with nurses being nasty but I was showed the opposite.
This is just my review of ANC nurses,can't say about the other clinics in UCH.

Hospital experience sometimes depends on the time. And personnel on duty.at times nurses at Anc could be nice and ones at labor ward nasty or vice versa.

it's been almost five days without been able to keep any food down in my stomach.. I vomit it all out.. I don't have appetite either except for bland foods like pap or sugarless oat which I end up vomiting..

I also cant drink water.. it makes me vomit.

I tried ginger tea today to stop the nausea but it's works for an hour or two and nausea is back again..

I've lost a lot of weight, and I think I may be dehydrated cos I've not been drinking water (although I don't know how dehydration feels)

I'm very weak to do much or even walk around.

is this how severe it should be or I should visit the hospital ..

please help.. I'm losing my mind right now (I cry sometimes especially when I feel so hungry but I know I can't eat cos of zero appetite and nausea at the same time).. I'll be resuming work next week.. and I'm terribly afraid on how I will cope.

prior to admission, morning sickness was under control and I was very OK and healthy.. I wonder if I'm reacting to a medication they gave me at the hospital. it's called Cyclogest.. it's inserted into the V twice a day. it's progesterone

It does make sense to visit the hospital coz of MS, especially if you're hydrated Pls go and see your doctor as soon as possible.

Sorry dear... This too shall pass. Just hang on. You can visit the hospital if you think you need it. But doctors will likely tell you "it's normal". Hopefully all the symptoms will disappear once you enter your 2nd trimester.

@Somebody'sMum, thanks, wishing you a smooth delivery also. I used Magodo Specialist Hospital and i had a very good experience with them. From the receptionist to the cleaners, nurses and doctor. They all delivered well and i will recommend. They like money oo but i got good services sha

nausea is my number one problem.. it's feels like its taken permanent residence in my throat and chest. and it's feels like its choking life from me. terribly uncomfortable feeling..


Please I'm so sorry for my constant complaints on the thread. I've just gotten to that point

lol I think that's just a myth Jare. That's how they said EBF would help you lose weight and it's making me fat here cuz it gets me soooo hungry even worse than pregnancy hunger. I'm doing EBF o even planning to stop at five months cuz my baby eats too much. Even Sansa is doing EBF and got her period bàck in six weeks

It's nt a myth abt not seeing AF wen u r EBF. I did EBF (wth water tho) for my children stringently 4 6 months n then breastfed 4 1yr and 3 solid months ( wth formula) and I didn't see AF till after 15 months wen I stopped breastfeeding it showed three months later. I was soo lucky cos I used EBF as my own FP and it didn't fail me.

Yes you can visit hospital if you feel u are dehydrated. ln my 1st preg, i visited twice cos of severe vommiting and i was dehydrated. I took some drips before i get back my strength. But first, they will rule out malaria

MS dealt with me seriously as well, barely kept anything down, no energy and all but fast forward to my Second trimester it all became better, i could eat a whole country of food. I barely even remembered there's such a word as MS...

Sorry lovie! Yes u can visit d hosp but i can assure u you ll b told its part of d package and that u need to rest well. Read up on ways to manage morning sickness, u ll get suggestions on what u can add to your water to keep it down as u need to stay hydrated

while all these is going on ensure u dont skip your prenatal mefications as this will supply ur foetus the nwccessary nutrient u are unable to provide as a result of lack of appetite

V u tried sipping tea ( milo and milk)? Wat abt juice especially the apple juice? Try Amala ati gbegiri wth d brokotos. It worked 4 me during my 1st pregnancy. I couldn't eat anytin except Amala n any kinda draw soup. If u see me trekking those days cos I was looking 4 okro to buy ehn, u go jst Laff. If u tell me 2 trek dt same distance wth my clear eyes, I go fit knock person 4 head. Jst try n put somtin in ur belle even if it's liquid cos of ur baby.

My dear I wish to cover him but he sweats excessively!I clean sweat almost evry min weda d weda is cold or not,d boy sweats like a bricklayer!Though had to start wearing overroll 4 him by force n I dropped sliverbird oil on his bib!

haha hubby has been asking me to stop since he said he doesn't know where I'm getting the energy. I want to see if my kid sis can come to lag for a month and follow me to work with her so I can still breastfeed. If not I'd stop when I start work next month. Don't think i can pump enough milk for creche with the way she eats As for cattahr she had a chest infection so we used Zinnat suspension. Just cover him well don't even mind the sweating
