if u want to build more infrastructure,

taxing first class tickets is a wrong move.

it's only gonna cause unnecessary inflation in the aviation sector

instead tax churches

for every 10 percent they deposit in their accounts

after all the members of the churches are all under govt pay directly or indirectly

and we are even the govt sef...

Absolute rubbish. Why tax churches? Why not tax mosques? The people that contribute money in the Church has already paid their individual taxes and moreover the Money is for the work of God Almighty and his house and not greedy individual like this govt.
They removed fuel subsidy and said Nigeria will turn to London from the proceeds of fuel subsidy. Have you seen any single project from that proceeds? Bunch of looters. God will surely punish them for all the untold hardship they are bringing on Nigerians.

They are already taxing themselves because they fly first class not the masses.

My dear, Nigeria politicians always exclude themselves in anything. They fly first class but they will be excluded for the tax. They were excluded during the time of stamp duty and the rest, just watch and see.

you don't understand the meaning of tax

let me help you out

tax is payment made towards the development of the society which you and I leave in .

now what's is wrong with a church donating some portions of their earnings for a road or hospital project

besides I like u to define what the work of God is

if the work of God isn't equivalent to good works in our society then u ain't a Christian.

and please stop swearing with God's name

have some respect

This should have been done since.

The earlier this country starts thinking and acting like a company, the better we will all be, we are far too poor to sustain social and other responsibilities for 180 million souls, countries with population of 4 million or thereabout have budgets bigger than ours!

$20 billion budget for a country like Nigeria is piss-poor, 70% or so goes to recurrent expenditure and a good chunk to corruption, while 4 million or less population countries like UAE, Qatar, Singapore, have budgets in the $50b-$120brange.

Malaysia: $70b
Turkey: $200b
South Africa: $90
Egypt: $90b
Angola: $33b
Kenya: $17b
Algeria: $40b

Most states in the US have budgets bigger than ours.

We are a poor country in revenue; we need to go commercial or perish.
Ironically, we are very rich in potentials and resources, rich enough to do a thousand times better -- only if we kill bigotry, sentiments, laziness, corruption and sense of childish entitlement.

We need to go commercial!

If not for your handle, I would have thought I typed that.
Well done mate.

This is just plain stup1dity! .How did we get here.... almost had a quarrel with my babe because of this scam called Association of Political Crooks 'APC during the presidential election, telling her Nigeria would be doomed if the daura cow gets mandate.

Today, we all are in the sh1t some f00lishly partisan individuals plunged us into.

very soon it would be taxing people for being rich

All Airline tickets are already taxed. Additional tax is additional burden on the passengers that may end up declining using those services any longer and subsequently affect the business of the airline.

It's wickedness to charge me tax on my income, charge me tax for VAT, tax for tickets consisting of almost 50% of the cost price, and tax because I want to fly business class.

Let me tell you something.

Kemi Adeosun is on the right path.

If we tax, first class tickets both foreign and local trips, and private jet charter services, the number of celebrities like hushpuppi bragging on instagram will reduce..

One nuisance solved.

If Kemi taxes luxury goods like wines above a certain price, cars above a certain price and jewellery, those flamboyant pastors will not be left out.

We recently saw here on front page, a pastor driving Rolls Royce and Hummer limousine. Such vehicles should be taxed heavily annually while undergoing vehicle particulars renewal at licensing offices nationwide. A luxury tax form should be attached.

There are still businessmen that Kemi has not touched. Make I close my mouth.

Hmmm. It seems the current government is out of ideas. What possible revenue could they make from taxing first and business class.
Personally, it's misplaced priorities. What about taxing churches (inclusive of the business and schools owned by the churches).
Re: Finally, FG To Tax First, Business Class Tickets by Tats(m): 1:30pm On Aug 04, 2017
Majority of First and Business tickets are bought by Government officials and wealthy individuals, many of whom get Government contracts or concessions.
At the end of the day, its still Government money that will be used to buy these tickets, so the tax will be paid by Government. Its just the same money circulating. Overall, the actual gains will be negligible.

It seems I have heard this before. Oh yes! When Okonjo Iweala was minister of finance. Seems like copy and paste to me.

Okonjo might say it then but the President then don't have balls to have it implement..

Most of the plans GEJ administration failed to implement are being implemented by PMB administration.
