[quote author=Youngadvocate post=58853889]And you think it will happen? You have forgotten that the same APC that gave us a working handbook of Restructuring during their campaign and swore to begin its implementation once voted into power, it is the same APC that set up a Committee to DEFINE Restructuring! Much so, headed by a notable campaigner against the same Restructuring.
Did you listen to Atiku Abubakar's narrative on Restructuring in the North West and the template he presented at University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu, South East? Well, if you did, you would notice a total change in narrative in the two fiercely divergent Geo-political zones. Why? because, the North West which controls the Country with its over-bloated population cannot accept the same Restructuring canvassed by the South East.
By now, you should have known that the sound of political songs sang in Abuja, when one is in power is completely out of tune with the song the politicians sing out of power [/qoute]
You have said it all.EOS

Seems ur yet to grasp what we are talking about. Nigeria. must be restructured, each state must cater for itself. it's the only way.

The only reality in all this is that our politicians have common unifying factor, SELFISHNESS. Once the ensure their comfort, whatever remains can burn into flames.

Nigerian Youths, WAKE UP! Before it will be too late to have our future secured.

At least, since the history of this Civilian Dispensation, I haven't seen any election period when children of our so-called leaders went to vote in an election. They have secured the future of their next four generations, who understand Diaspora as their permanent abodes. Yet, they want to dry-up the little that remains of our own future, not to talk of our kids.
First Bank and union bank are celebrating over 100 years of banking in Nigeria, keep dreaming, the sooner you get your act together the better for you. It is called The University of Nigeria Nsukka, property of The Federal Government of Nigeria not one of those your mushroom eastern state universities where all they know is cultism.

Using electronic voting, 48 of 95 Senators present voted against the proposal, which had been challenged on Tuesday by Adamu Aliero, who argued it should not stand without reviewing the revenue sharing formula to give more money to states
As usual, the abokis will never agree because they know they are useless to this entity called Nigeria and they will suffer the most once free oil money stops.

Unfortunately, the constitution was created to enable them stop restructuring.

This is just what we are talking about. SMH

Over to you bigot youths...begin your ethnic ranting.

The earlier we understand that Nigerian ruling class are united against the masses, the better for us.
These chaps of no dignity and sense of service, who do not in the slightest sense, comprehend the essence of leadership; who have no regard for leadership values and human dignity, are just trapped in the ebb of selfish aggrandizement and capital accumulation to the detriment of the good of the majority. Our future is at stake!

The thieves at National Assembly, whether you like it or not have no regard whatsoever, for the plight of Nigerians, simply because they perpetuate themselves in power. They buy the offices they occupy and therefore, are answerable to their pockets and godfathers.

This is why I strongly support the Movement by Nnamdi Kanu, which seemed to be gradually changing the political narratives in Nigeria and has challenged the statusquo. Every youth should join hands together to champion this revolution against the crop of looters we have as leaders. Had there been justice, equity and equality in Nigeria which are prerequisites for meaningful development, there would never be any noise about BIAFRA, NIGER DELTA MILITANCY, BOKO HARAM etc. Note, all these groups are youths.

Nigeria as it stands, is ridden with injustices. Injustice of the rich against the poor, of the politically advantaged North against the politically disadvantaged South, of people with varying religious values. However, the more prevalent and domineering is that of CLASS. Ruling class against the ruled (MASSES).

They are using every power, narrative, style and ideology to ensure we remain underdeveloped, subjected to them so they could continue to have their way. That is why they have taken government away from us. If not, how many of us know the name of their local govts chairmen?

Well said, bro. Am glad i can still see a NIGERIAN dat can still think dis way. However, am afraid many e-warriors will end up giving u a name even when they know u've only said the whole truth. I THINK WE, "NIGERIANS", ARE OUR PROBLEMS, cos we are afraid to act rightly or support a right course even when we know dat it is the best option. We are just so afraid to take our destinies in our hands
They don't want our political participation because they need no one to challenge them on the self-serving activities they engage in. Political apathy is what they want. Nigerian political system is WACKED, meant for the RICH. And, no one can change the STATUS QUO that favours him, unless forced to.

This is why the YOUTHS must unite against these folks. If YOU CANT JOIN TO FIGHT, AT LEAST SUPPORT THOSE AT THE FORE-FRONT with some ENCOURAGEMENT.

They should represent it as devolution of powers plus review of revenue allocation formula
#NigeriaYouthsAriseForTrueDemocracy-Worldwide. One of the best thing in this govt is the Restructuring that is taking place. The senate should amend those 1999 Decree called constitution to a contemporary Democratic constitution. The change begins with me and you. Changing police name is not enough, bit changing their attitude is the best WE ARE THE VOICE OF THE VOICELESS NIGERIA YOUTHS. #ettahemmani

If they vote more powers to the states,, the federal would be run on lesser funds, that means, lesser renumeration for the NASS members, and lesser controls and powers in their hands too...
They would never vote away the powers and riches they control..
They are still very greedy and selfish..
You can imagine the reason they voted against it... That it would mean "reviewing the revenue sharing formula to give more money to states."
So, they never wanted grassroot development in the various states, or what.??
They are still there talking about sharing formula,, while we are here talking resource control, and autonomous powers by the states to undertake measures that would foster it's development in the best possible way..
They should be talking about how much the states should be remitting to the federal..
The Era Of "Sharing Formula" Is Gone.

If powers is within the states,, the revenue allocation would now be coming from the various states to the federal.. Thus, the states are paying the federal now, rather than federal being in control of everything and paying chicken-change to the states.

Nigerian states should be the ones giving money to the center
This is what we need for now.

Even the senator you supported to lead the house is also part of Nigeria's problem. They care less about you and I, the earlier we realize this, the better.

they will not support it cos it means less money for them to steal and share cos they il be left wth peanuts as the federal parastatals will have to depend on th states for revenue.

The agitation for restructuring of the country has suffered a setback as the Nigerian Senate on Wednesday voted to reject a proposal to amend the 1999 Constitution to devolve more powers to the states.

Using electronic voting, 48 of 95 Senators present voted against the proposal, which had been challenged on Tuesday by Adamu Aliero, who argued it should not stand without reviewing the revenue sharing formula to give more money to states.

Which senators voted against and from what region are they? These information should be passed on to the public who should hold them responsible.

A few people have made insightful remarks about the dangers of devolving more powers to the states while their governors rule like dictators, and here I agree there's a serious problem. Devolution of powers is clearly badly needed in Nigeria, but an even higher priority than that is giving both state legislatures and LGAs genuine independence from governors: joint accounts need to be abolished, LGA elections must be mandatory (with federal allocations automatically blocked until overdue LGA elections are held), and INEC's mandate must be extended to overseeing the elections for state houses of assembly. The current setup where state legislators just rubber-stamp governors' proposals is simply unacceptable.
it will come. just as governors have freed themselves from presidential and godfather shackles, soon local govt chairmen will revolt against governors. sorry, democracy is slow, why oyinbo prescribed it for us

so we should concentrate the mumu with one president instead of spreading among 36

I now see why Igbos hate Yoruba so much.

There's no way only Northern senators can override any vote with majority and there is 10% possibility of Igbo senator going against restructuring, so it has to be Yoruba senators

The people get the kind of leaders they deserve, you can check with the kind of comments you see on nairalan and other social media, people are lacadasical, dont know they are important stake holders, like company owners that hire workers, who must hire competent workers if his enterprise must move forward, even if is an illitrate and the applicant is a phd holder,he will not feel inferior,or worship the applicant,he must take charge and select the best if he must get the best result without sentiment as he will bear direct consequence for his actions, thats how the electorate should take elections like they are hiring for their personal companies, must not be intimidated by wealth, affilations former positions but competence and pedigree and not payment for votes, then we will start getting it right and will be on our way to joining the comity of civilised people.
