I have been wondering why is it that Nigerians, Ghanaians, Cameroonians and people from other West African countries are referred to as "Black People" meanwhile an Indian is called "Indian".

Even Indians will dissociate themselves when you try to tell them that they are actually as black as you and should be referred to as black. Why can't Nigerians be called "Nigerians" or worst case "African", why must we be called "Black"?

Are we really black? The last time i looked at the color black and i compared it with my skin color, its nowhere near the color black.

Have you met the Nilotes of Sudan? Most Africans have a bit of Nilotic blood. So there is some pitch black genes in us. We call pink people white too

Not sure why we are called black in the Western world, but there are some African ethnicities that do not want to identify as black.

It really depends on how you want to define yourself. You do not have to go by the Western definition of "black" it is up to you if you want to go by how Westerners call you.

I am African, Fulani, and I might label myself as black but in reality, the whole black thing is Western made. Some Fulani do not see themselves as black.

You do not have to go by what a white person calls you. A white person's opinion is no more valid than your own. You can call yourself whatever you want to call yourself. You don't have to be brainwashed like 99% of the world.

In the UK, we call them Asians

Indians see and refer to themselves as "brown" (not black), "Asians" and of course "Indians". It doesn't make sense to call them black because they're not. Neither have they had nor do they have black experiences nor history.
