I believe Christianity is a matter of your personal relationship with Christ and one should always strive to know him more. If that is what he intends doing...then great. As for me, knowing Christ, having him as ur lord and saviour, have faith, love God and others and finally obey his commandment is enough to be a good Christian. God be with him in his struggles.

God calls every man singly and we answer singly as well.

In the face of God, our churches do not matter but the state of our heart with Him through Jesus Christ, For there is no other name given among men whereby we must be saved.
