Hello @Reneawable0216,

First off, I will have to say sorry, but we are all experiencing the same thing.

After reading your post I felt really sad... But have you tried to weigh the situation and that procedures and policies change in various countries?

Are you kidding me that you are going to flood twitter handles quote politicians even the acting president
just German consulate has not decided to responded to emails on appointments? (now I was really taken aback and felt ashamed). It's looking more like the protest is farther than just wanting to school in Germany, I perceive!

I beg of us let's act wisely when we do things and stop making this Germans look so less on us. Come to think of if, a German can say if you push this much you can as well apply to a US school and getting scholarship or get non tuition free school in other part of Europe.

My Friend applied to a university in Frankfurt for PhD, after weeks of waiting, exchanging research topics with his supervisor, suddenly a mail came in and state sorry we can't continue with the admission process as the German as regulation has told them to pay attention to its citizens and remain mute about it! This was in March 2017. In April TUMunich did same thing applicants pursuing a PhD must have been a graduate from TUM.

I applied to confederation college in Canada what you are experiencing for Germany happened to me, I have even paid a 110$ application fee, until the coordinator said this (Unfortunately, we do require minimally a Second Class, Upper Division for admission to our post-graduate level programs in Engineering. This was set after recent discussions with immigration and other partners who work in Nigeria.)

If you have applied to a Canadian school you will understand that 2'2 goes for PGD I had gotten Conestoga and Lambton in 2016 but couldn't continue due to finance.

We on Canadian thread didn't floor the Canadian ambassador mails. We on the Canadian thread can tell you from August 2016 to February 2017 90percent of Nigerian applicants were refused because of changes in immigration policies, it is their country and can change the laws doesn't matter to the Nigerian president!

Why am I grieved? Please lets take decisions with wisdom so as not to kill other opportunities.... They have every right to do what they wish to do! Let's be diplomatic and have faith with prayers.

They will send appointment replies very soon before August ends by God's grace.... Be hopeful.

Sending disturbing mails can put them in distress and conclude not to go ahead don't you think?

In my opinion, quit the idea of social media protest, one thing you should know is that Germans does care like Americans too don't.

Sorry, for the long epistle! God bless us all, if it's His will to make it manifest no man can shut it.

Let's thread with caution!! I stand to be corrected too.

Cheers!

Well written!

I have said it that things are changing...but I understand why people caught up in the tides feel the way they do.

However, we must remain civil...the German people have been more than generous/transparent in visa decisions...with very few denials too.

We cannot demand from them, what we have failed to demand from our own Government.

Cold never catch this one, you dey think say na AC wey dey shoprite
Good luck with all your meds you are bringing, that is if custom don't stop you

Look at you, I've lived abroad long enough to know that the medications to our common malaria and typhoid will need you to see a doctor (need to book an appointment for non critical medical situations) and obtain a prescription before buying at a pharmacy, that one is if they don't decide to hospitalize and quarantine you for having a tropical disease. They can even screen you for Ebola and tuberculosis just cause you arrived from sub Saharan Africa recently. And really all you need to get through customs is a doc's prescription note (which even common corper can get for 10 kobo). If you no be person wey too dey sick please pack anti malaria, anti biotics, pain meds, cough and otherwise cold reaction and anti allergy meds. Just one or two packs of each. Condoms are free so no need for that. If you use glasses, get an extra pair in Nigeria, they should last at least 2 years anyway. If cold breeze makes you sick, wear proper warm clothing and wrap warm blanket.

This post is a joke. The German government owes you NOTHING!! they have their policies and the only people they owe it to serve are Germans. They didn't ask you to apply for education in their country, so they're not liable for any costs incurred on your part. instead of copying gbogbo ti gbogbo to help you with schooling in Germany, tell them to fix the shitty education here so we won't have to start looking for quality education elsewhere.

You won't demand this kind of accountability from your government, it's Germany you want accountability from. Mshew. Please delete this nonsense.

U hv spoken sense out of the above nonsense (Mr Renewable sorry) if God permit, things would work out fine let's just keep the positive vibe.
Funny enough 2 weeks ago I quoted some moniker on this unnecessary mail bombarding to the German consulate, some people quoted me to be selfish and coward. I would always advice we reason outside the box. This fellas are offering us free education (forget ur blocked account money oooo cos na u get am) of which our own myopic government don't. One thing that aches me most is even some people would get sponsorship letter as an alternative (for those that fall in dx class, u can't spend more than 500k for travelling expenses or to hold at hand b4 u settle if u sabi), amongst all have the opportunity to work (that one no fit happen for 9ja except N-power sha). What else do you guys want? Being booked out doesn't mean that's the end of the road faaa at least it happened last year and was looked upon and reverted.
This is a German policy and the fact is not even our government can dictate that for them rather u tell our government to fix ours.
The every moment I type I always say, remember other applicants are coming next semester. Emafi waduwadu yin koba won (I pray dx una overzealous attitude no affect other incoming applicants).

Make una reason outside the box.

Although you are known to be a mentally unstable character, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and address your ego with "civility".

Yes, Bafög was increased by 9.7% last year, and it impacted on the overall minimum for every student, but that (still) doesn't have a direct correlation to how much students (both bafög beneficiaries and normal students) spend on the average every month. But what it did do was increase the total bloackable amount for incoming international students, and for those coming from developing country, that was totally unnecessary.

Anybody that was here last year can testify to that. People were not happy about it.

So, yes! A statutory increase in the "standard of living" for students here in Germany, will always have a direct effect on students not yet in the system.

Oya, come and rant again. Just be rest assured that this time, I will fucck your nose.

To explain to you,how the system works, I'll rather watch GOT and sip some cold beer.

Hello guys,

I trust everyone is having a great day.

In the light of the recent rejection of Student Visa application from the Embassy...It's obvious our only hope of getting them to re-think their stand is to involve our Legislators and Govt Officials.

I've read that some other Asian countries are facing similar challenge but he truth is Nigerians are the only ones in Africa. The Embassy in Accra attends to 3 countries and it's still open till probably September if not longer...so that argument does not hold water.

In nut, myself and couple of guys have thought it right to get the attention of well-meaning Nigerians to wedge in on our case and call the Embassy to act right.

An article has been put up and we need to flood our Social media handles with this information! LIKE FLOOD IT TILL THEY WOULD HAVE TO RESPOND TO IT.

I believe everyone on this platform should ACTIVELY participate in this; not only those who are yet to get interview dates.
VICTORY FOR ONE IS VICTORY FOR ALL.

This is a case of some people choosing to crush our dreams and aspirations, we shouldn't fold our arms!

If you really believe in result, then LET'S GO ALL OUT TO TWEET and RETWEET, write / share the blog url, Write on facebook, Call that Uncle and Friend in positions of authority.

Copy the President and Osibanjo, all Senators- Murray Bruce, Abike Dabiri, Dino Melaye...ALL OF THEM! , The House of Rep, Media Houses, Linda, Sahara Reporters and every other person you can.

THIS IS ABOUT OUR FUTURE...waiting one year after all the emotional, financial stress and hard work done to get the admission shouldn't go down the drain...

WE ARE THE YOUTH, WE MUSTN'T JUST ALLOW PEOPLE PEDDLE WITH OUR LIVES.

I hope this plea will resonate with everyone here...Even those that have gotten interview dates and those who are yet to even apply.

We need you to make this a reality. The likes, share, re-tweet, copy would go a lonnnnng way!

#Winter17 is possible!

@uchevolata: Sorry Sis, but I think you got this all wrong. There are lots to answer in your post so I'd take it one at a time...

First off, I will have to say sorry, but we are all experiencing the same thing.

Q1: After reading your post I felt really sad... But have you tried to weigh the situation and that procedures and policies change in various countries?
A1: Sadly, I don't think policies have changed much in Germany, at least in Africa, only Nigerians are facing this! We just need these guys to talk to those at the Embassy...at least try! We can't just fold our arms when Ghanaian Embassy is still open till September!

Q2: Are you kidding me that you are going to flood twitter handles quote politicians even the acting president
A2: We won't be the first persons to do that...folks have done that for even less germane reasons.

Q3: just German consulate has not decided to responded to emails on appointments? (now I was really taken aback and felt ashamed).
A3: Taken aback and ashamed...those are big words tho. But I'm still at loss as to why you are? Any ignominious act?

Q4: It's looking more like the protest is farther than just wanting to school in Germany, I perceive!
A4: How so? What else is there to do in Germany than school the first years? Do under-handed jobs? Give me a break! Some of us are classy for that babe...

Q5: I beg of us let's act wisely when we do things and stop making this Germans look so less on us.
A5: Got better ideas? Seem like good time to air them now

Q6: Come to think of if, a German can say if you push this much you can as well apply to a US school and getting scholarship or get non tuition free school in other part of Europe.
A6: Have they said that? They made Education free for a reason.

And I think you've gotten this all wrong. This attack is not on the Germans per se, they probably just reacting to influx of applicants this round and probably don't want to stress themselves. We just need someone to make them want to stretch a little.
Their advise has been wait till next year...what happens then? A deluge of old and new applicants pushing them far beyond their limits??
Have you thought about that?

Q7: My Friend applied to a university in Frankfurt for PhD, after weeks of waiting, exchanging research topics with his supervisor, suddenly a mail came in and state sorry we can't continue with the admission process as the German as regulation has told them to pay attention to its citizens and remain mute about it! This was in March 2017. In April TUMunich did same thing applicants pursuing a PhD must have been a graduate from TUM.
A7: I'm sorry about your friend, really am. But this is the position of certain schools, some schools are so eager to have us that they took it upon themselves to mail the Embassy!

Q8: I applied to confederation college in Canada what you are experiencing for Germany happened to me, I have even paid a 110$ application fee, until the coordinator said this (Unfortunately, we do require minimally a Second Class, Upper Division for admission to our post-graduate level programs in Engineering. This was set after recent discussions with immigration and other partners who work in Nigeria.)
A8: This is a different ball game Sis, you probably just did not meet the requirement for that school, another school who sees the good in you would have gladly jumped at you...right?

Q9. If you have applied to a Canadian school you will understand that 2'2 goes for PGD I had gotten Conestoga and Lambton in 2016 but couldn't continue due to finance.

Q10:We on Canadian thread didn't floor the Canadian ambassador mails. We on the Canadian thread can tell you from August 2016 to February 2017. 90percent of Nigerian applicants were refused because of changes in immigration policies.
A10: The Country made a policy change...How are you so sure this is the case for Germany. Check around Sis, all other African embassies are still open? Should we run to other countries because own guys can't be called to question?

Q11: it is their country and can change the laws doesn't matter to the Nigerian president!
A11: True, it's their Country, thier Universities, their money...butb international relation exist too. Nigeria, despite our not so-good reputation, is still a fertile ground for them...maybe not the best but they still spend money funding an Embassy on our soil.

Q12: Why am I grieved? Please lets take decisions with wisdom so as not to kill other opportunities.... They have every right to do what they wish to do! Let's be diplomatic and have faith with prayers.
A12: On this I agree. The last thing a wise man would do is burn a bridge just because he's past the ridge...but are you sure our silence wouldn't do worse? If we succumb to their whims and caprices so easily, what happens next year when they now "combine" 2 batches?

Q13: They will send appointment replies very soon before August ends by God's grace.... Be hopeful.
Sending disturbing mails can put them in distress and conclude not to go ahead don't you think?
A13: I am hopeful and prayerful... that is why we are doing this. What if they don't re-consider? Which most Germans "usually" don't?
Let's just give them a nudge by getting one of our top officials to wedge in...

This is not a bottle-and-knives fight.... it's a social protest to generate the right results. I'm in fact too lanky to spear-head a revolt! grin

Q14: In my opinion, quit the idea of social media protest, one thing you should know is that Germans does care like Americans too don't.
A14: Nice choice of words...your opinion...nice, noble and praiseworthy but I think we are on same ship here. Correct me if I'm wrong...you worry is extremity and total sabotage of our goals but

Q15: Sorry, for the long epistle! God bless us all, if it's His will to make it manifest no man can shut it.
A15: Sorry about the long post too, but I think it demands it lest people go off with the wrong notion about our intentions

Maybe I didn't articulate our reasons and approach well...forgive my inadequacies

But the truth is...we need to be more concerted and painstaking in our approach.

Our goal is to simply get our folks in high places to dialogue with them at the Embassy. No one is carrying placards and logs!
It's simply enough noise to make those who can change things come in and speak with these Germans!

The right person talking to them can get the job done. In fact, just a phone call!
But how do we get them to do that if we just lazy around!

I'm made bold to say that the social media would get the job done!

If it does not, at least we tried.

Things we regret most in life are not the things we do...it's the ones we don't!

Conclusion: Let's thread with caution!!

Yes we would Big Sis. We would thread with caution and be civil too.

We can be civil and still cause a change!

Please i will like to know if there is a required page number for the letter of motivation, mine is 2 and a half pages of word documents. Just hope it is okay.

For those of us who did not get a visa interview date from the bottom of my heart I know how you feels. Its really heart breaking and i hope something can be done about it.

I guess it's enuf, We should take a chill pill. Please

This is an open forum. I was once asked by the CBP if I get advice from Nairaland, there are some laws and policies in place for issues like this.

The German embassy is just a pcs of Germany in Nigeria, we can't bend their hands to do otherwise.

Other countries **** **** **** take your money, give u an appointment date, you travel from. Point A to B, undergo the interview, face the stress and preparation anxiety only for them to bounce you later. (heart breaking)

Let's keep cool things will get better. So we don't use our hand to close the road others have past through smoothly.

Hi guys,

My AM mail arrived this morning.

I had my interview on July 13, provided blocking confirmation on July 31.

For those trying to purchase travel insurance. I did mine with Ensure Insurance today for N20k (6 months). They processed it and sent me a soft copy in about three hours.

Special thanks to Henry Okolie for his assistance through the process, and to everyone providing updates and responding to people's questions.

Here is wishing everyone awaiting appointment date, sourcing for funds or waiting to be interview, the very best.

Cheers!

#Winter17

Impossible is nothing!

PS: Ucheveleta...this is nothing personal. I apologize in advance if I sounded that way...but believe me, it's not!

I respect you and respect your opinion too.

See you in Germany #Winter17 wink

The intent behind this is not to provoke the German consulate into banning Nigerians or withdrawing the free education scheme. It is simply to provoke them into re-thinking their stand regarding the study visa situation. It is understandable that we need be diplomatic (nothing in the article states otherwise). However, one cannot simply fold his arms and expect manna to fall from heaven, the idea is to get them to reconsider but that is totally at their discretion.
Everyone is simply doing what he or she can to find a solution to this (if we can).
Also, those individuals who were affected by something like this last year, should kindly let us know what they did (if they did anything at all). This platform is to exchange ideas and pass on info to help the next man.
I pray we all get that which we desire.

No, I did not even have any German Cert., since my programme is an English thought programme.

But what does the schools requirement states concerning your own programme?

Babes, I really wanna appreciate ur input here.

It's not easy to help ppl at dis stage wen everyone wanna be sure even when u give dem the right information.

Am guilty of not always online to help out in my own capacity but my head full, but I promise dat after my interview i'd be checking in once in a while.

But one good advise to summer guys, u need to silently go back to d last chapter, read a lot of processes of application questions and answer and testimonies, then u'd ve a lot of insight den u come get clarification.

It wnt be too long, u'd be d ones helping ur mates.

And those who wish to go for winter 2018, pls apply to uni dis summer oh! Even if it's not ur choice but a related course would do.
Get ur letter, deffer little before deadline den get a winter one which u can use to book for interview earlier and wait for ur desired course for winter.

And also to avoid these issues of booking out.

Lmao.

U ve got no chill.

Dat guy make dey laFf after I read him post finish.

With his character, how sure will dey be dat u wnt come and make trouble in Dia country?

To those affected, don't feel discouraged. You could start now to prepare for summer or winter next year.

those who want to engage in such act should think twice, by so doing ur telling these Germans ur level of desperation, are u not aware that this people are so strict with their laws? Do u want to close d door for those who want to study in future? D standard of education in the UK, US ,Canada and Germany are the same yet they made it tuition free, something dat our colonial masters will never dream of doing for us. U should see it as a great privilege day i will advise u not to abuse. U talk abt letting our government officials know so they will act on it, but I tell u those politicians will do NOTHING. So I will advise all of u who want to embark on this futile journey to HALT IT .Am equally in d same situation, and my own course is only available for winter semester so I hv to defer mine to next winter, provided my admission is secured I think we should all do d same so dat I will enable us apply earlier next year. Patience is a virtue and delay is not denial. Germany is not ur country dat u should demand explanation from them, a word is enough for the wise

I've silently followed and observed comments made on this thread ever since the issue of the embassy's refusal to issue interview dates to intending students. Comments from the likes of dobeespen, hiltino and uchevolata gladden my heart so much. These bunch and a few others like them on this thread make me optimistic about the future of our dear country, that all hope is not lost as yet and there are still intellectually sound youths despite the putrid rot in the system. I still find it hard to wrap my head around how and why some people think bombarding the email address(es) of the embassy of a SOVEREIGN nation or social media campaigns of calumny against the decision/internal policy(ies) of a SOVEREIGN nation, of whom you are not a citizen is the way out of this debacle.

It's painfully ironic to see how some of us are trying to hold people who owe us next to nothing accountable for their generosity but we cannot do so to the political class of our own country who ought to be accountable to us but trample on our fundamental human rights in every way imaginable.

Could it be that the german consulate is acting on an order from berling? If so, your so called emotional mails may not move them at this time but I still believe in the power of prayers and miracles though. Anyone who can can a sponsorship letter from germany can go ahead and do so immediately, maybe they can consider that and give you a date according to the info on their website. Nevertheless, summer is another prospective semester if you can differ your admission. Few weeks ago we read the testimony of a summer applicant that couldn't make it but was able to differ his admission and applied for visa this winter. He was one of the first students issued visa this winter.

Good-day brethren!

its very painful after all the whole stress of getting admission and yet no appointment date with the embassy.it's HARD,it's DEPRESSING and it's FRUSTRATING!!!. i can understand and feel the pains of some of our brothers without dates BUT...CALM DOWN! easy to say? yes! but not easy to exercise. this is just august, early august. lets not allow these obstacles to get the better of us(our emotion). it might just end up exposing our obvious desperation and intention(which might be mis-interpreted) by the germans. We still have the whole of august and september for them to come up with a decision. lets be optimistic and seek God's intervention. Once again, its not easy but i plead with you all in this situation to be PATIENT!
