Tragedy occurred at a BRD Medical College in Uttar Pradesh, India this week, as 60 children reportedly died after oxygen supplier withdrew his services  over unpaid debts.

It was gathered that 34 babies died at the neo-natal intensive care unit, 12 died because of encephalitis, while the rest died of other unspecified causes.

However, BRD Medical Chief Medical Superintendent Dr R.S. Shukla denied the deaths had been caused by a lack of oxygen supplies when asked by Reuters.

In a statement released by the hospitl, the children's death was blamed on “drop in pressure in the supply of liquid oxygen” on Thursday, as the hospital further disclosed that added cylinders were procured from various other suppliers.

The breakdown of the death toll provided by the hospital showed a spike on Thursday, with 23 fatalities, including 14 babies at its neo-natal unit. The government is investigating the matter.

“We have launched an inquiry and a preliminary report should be out today,” Anil Kumar, Gorakhpur’s divisional commissioner, told AFP news agency.

“Yes, sixty patients have died at the hospital in the last five days but we don’t think it’s linked to reports of oxygen shortage.”

Let's look at this from the supplier's angle too. He is running a business that his nuclear and extended family is dependent upon. How does he keep the business going when two or three customers have almost 80% of his supplies in their domain without payment?

As oxygen is life to a body, so is money a means to food in the stomach.

My condolences to the family of the dead. May the dead RIP.

Today's future wasted!

When you deal business with a hospital to provide an essential service like Oxygen supply, just set your mind that you're going charity per time because if you withdraw the services for whatever reason, you'll be causing loss of lives.

Reuters should have asked if 60 babies have been lost in a space of 5 days before in that hospital while there was oxygen supply. If yes, It is then we'll believe that lack of oxygen wasn't the cause of the babies deaths. If no, the hospital and the oxygen supplier should be sued for mass murder!

If that's true,some people don't have conscience.Both the mgt(for failing to pay up their debts) and suppliers(knowing fully well that their actions will result to loss of lives) are at fault.

And Naijas are dying to enter India
