If you go through the bible, you will see various passages where God requested for seeds as a sign of faith. It may not have been monetary at the time but in various instances, the children of Israel were asked to pledge their gold/silver. What God needs is something that is dear to your heart as in the case of Abraham/Isaac and not necessarily money. Pastors harp on money and other material things because that is what most of us hold very dear to our hearts in this modern times. In the case of Hannah for instance, she pledged Samuel because he was very dear to her heart. You need to start sowing seeds to understand how they work. If you dont plant, there can never be a harvest.

You have a point, but let's look at it from the New Covenant. When I read Rom 8: 32, it blows my mind. If God gave you Jesus, is there anything that God can't give to you ?
The only thing we can give to God is to present our bodies as living sacrifice. Your money or material possession is secondary. Or why do you think pastors insist we give sacrificially to them. Who takes the money ? Is it God or these pastors ?
I'm not against giving sacrificially but the problem is that it has been abused. I will tell you my personal experience. There was a time I was looking for a job. I prayed, fasted and sow seeds.
There was this MOG that asked us all to pledge some money to support his ministry. The man was sincere. I gave my best. After prayers, someone asked for my CV which I gave. After that, i didn't hear from him again.
The present job I have, I didn't need to sow any seed. It came just like that. In fact, some years back, an MOG said I should sow a seed of 90k to get my breakthrough ?

My church is the only Church on earth that offering baskets or plates are not passed around. Tithes and offerings are given voluntarily and they are paid ONLINE USING DEBIT/ CREDIT CARDS or via SHORT SMS CODE. All payments are anonymous and it does not matter what you give because nobody knows.

The Pastor is talking as if the act of giving is a sin. Is like he is too obsessed....

Its good to give though, i don't see anything bad in it. But giving should be done voluntarily and cheerfully and not grudgingly and compulsorily.

Another area the pastor is not addressing well is the fact that when you give there will always be a return. The return may not necessarily be monetary and instant, the return may be abstract, like safety, good health, marital bliss, breakthroughs etc.

Besides, the scripture assured us that there is blessing attached to the act of giving......"give and it shall be given to you"....."it is more blessed to give than to receive" and so on......
