1.Seriously you little children should stop all these tribalist cracks. Bigotry is not good.

2.Basic reason why we have erosion in the SE and SW (Yes....SW!) is simple.....Nigeria's population is growing, the demand for land for farming and firewood is growing....and as a result... people in SE and SW are chopping down the trees.(Someone called the disappearance of the West African rainforest the greatest disaster of our time).

3.Now...appearances can be deceiving. The soil in a typical rainforest region looks strong...but in reality it is very weak....and needs trees and lots of growth to sustain itself. Remove the trees....remove the protection....erosion results.

4.Now....here is where your hero PMB can step in....by reviving one of the very few good things that old dictator Abacha tried to do....end gas flaring....and use the gas saved to replace firewood....as well as improving power supply.....think SOLAR and WIND and WAVE for example.

Meanwhile....we repalce the lost trees and bring in better land management practices.
Good points.. Was abt to close the thread until I saw your comments

Anambra State??

EROSION is a generational trademark of that particular region. No Surprises.

The Pigs were quick to bare their unworthy fangs at the thread that indicates the calling of FG intervention in an erosion PRONE land in some part of Oyo State instead of them to wholly direct their attention on means to savage their land from being erosion ravaged.

A day will come that EROSION will wash away the entire region.
Now that you have mocked Anambra state, what did you gain? huh

And to cure your ignorance, not all parts of the SE is erosion prone.
Many parts are not

Dead region with mostly brainless people..

They prefer running to Ogbomosho, Lagos, Kano, Abuja etc. to buy lands while erosion eats their own ancestral lands up.

Their dead brain can't think of measures to save their shithole but if it's to brag and chestbeat, you'll see them in large numbers.

Federal Ministry of works also caused that erosion through the sand borrow pits its contractors dug along the abandoned Awka-Ekwulobia-Orlu-Owerri road during the late 1980s. Because of a little bridge which the contractor did not build across Urashi river but was fully paid, the Ekwulobia to Orlu section of the road that was also fully asphalted, completed, was never put to use. A few years after, flooded pits and damaged gutters provoked gully erosions that had since sacked many communities along the road, including communities in the Ideato areas of Imo state. The communities have never had any politician to present their plight. Nigeria's Works Ministry never cared for a road it must have spent billions of Naira to build but never put to use. That is Nigeria.
GLeesMODEL:
The people of Umunze in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State made a Save Our Soul call to the Federal Government of Nigeria, to urgently intervene in the wanting loss of Farmland, Homes and other horrendous and incalculable havoc in the business nerve center of ORUMBA North and SouthLocal governments of Anambra State, caused by a devilish Erosion.

They made this call through the member representing Orumba North and Orumba South Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Ben Nwankwo, believing that the peoples Messenger will continue the exceptionally revered rapid response to matters of extreme urgencies that has characterized his Leadership/Representation of the People.

This Errosion Haram has been silently enchroaching into Buildings, Farmlands, Redusing Trade,Communication and other means of Relationship between the People of The Community. Recently, the gathering of Flood occasioning this scary natural disaster has also escalated to the extent that it threatens the existence of the Popular Umunze Market, a market that serves an inter-State Trade and Commerce purposes. The negative Social and Economic effect will be far reaching and gruesome.

In respect to the save our soul call, the Peoples’ Messenger, Rt. Hon Ben duly dispatched his Legislative Aides, Dr Edwin Aguigwo and Hon. Obinna Nwankwo to the scene of the devastation on an inspection visit with the Oracle News to ascertain the current situation of the natural disaster.

On the Tuesday,08/08/2017, the inspection team arrived the Community to see things for themselves and report as appropriate. Alas! The rampaging flood and the gully effects are better seen than told! Scores of homes have been deserted, about 60 hectares of farmland have been affected,Bussiness is put on hold at the slightest sign of rainfall and is totally stopped at the eventual rain until 48hours, a major road leading to the permanent sight of a Federal Institution, Federal College of Education Umunze(FCET) has been abandoned at the mercy of the flood and the cruelty of the erosion, making the students to take bush parts to school, thereby endangering their lives, the Trunk A road connecting Imo State and Abia State at the danger of being swept away along Umunze town with the recent rapidity of the current situation.

Speaking with a community leader, Mr Casmir Ilechukwu, he berated the lack of proper attention by the past Governments as their earlier calls has proved tepid and could only elicit insignificant attention. He further explained that the town through her illustrious sons has contributed their enormous philanthropic quotas in checkmating the disaster and reducing its adverse effects, but it has escalated to an unbearable level that the town had to start crying out louder to the Government. He therefore, called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency at the Erosion site, to save the area from further degradation.

In his speech, Rt Hon Ben Nwankwo, represented by his legislative Aides, gave the assurance that he will unleash all weapons in his  arsenal to ensure that a motion for urgent intervention is raised on the floor of the house as quick as possible, get the powers that be and persuade the relevant agencies into swift action to contain the menace.

In his remarks, the community youth leader, Comr Onyebuchi ikeakor commended the Rt. Hon for his commitment in ensuring that the pressing needs of the people are given proper attention and also extolled the legislative focus of the Messenger that has him making loud and obvious impacts in the legislative Arm of Government, despite just reclaiming the people mandate only last three months, after a protracted legal tussle. In the same vein, mr William Okonkwo and other community leaders there present, reaffirmed their unflinching support to the political life of Rt. Hon Ben Nwankwo.
