A four-storey building has collapsed in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital. The building which is being constructed as a hotel collapsed on Friday morning, around the Sulugambari road, injuring three workers. Although no causality has been recorded yet, the injured workers have been taken to the hospital. Buildings don't just collapse...There has got to be an error somewhere. Truth is, it is cheaper to hire a qualified engineer to handle your project, It pays in the long run. Let's put a stop to substandard construction, people should get maximum value for their money. I'm sincerely pained when I see building collapsing. I hope this is not as a result of cutting corners, not following due construction processes, engaging baba Ibrahim a quack brick layer as a construction / structural Engineer to oversee a big structure like this, or using substandard products during the construction process, many questions begging for answers  5 Likes |

FG should really look into this deadly matter of building collapses here and there. Even though builders aren't to be spared, but the cement manufactures has to share major part of the blame. Meanwhile, experience has shown me that most informal trained builders are more reliable and competent than majority of the formally trained ones - the articulate incompetents. I wager a formally trained builder was in charge of the collapsed building. |
