Nigerian police is not corrupt, NPF is just what comes next to mind when you think of corruption. After the politicians though..

From the face of the IG in the pix,he is laughing at the Force PRO from concocting these lies from the pit of hell,to say the Police is corrupt is an understatement, they are fantastically corrupt

There are two ways to this, the survey was done in 2016, and the Police admitted they have done a lot in areas of improvement on this,, so we can't fault the survey it is still valid and relevant .
Now to the second part of the issue. the police have greatly improved their service delivery in Lagos , if you do a working tour of Force CID Annex ALAGBON , Zone 2, Federal Sars Obalende, the officers are more professional and fairly civil. But the message is yet to sink into the system in the Divisional areas and Area command . More notorious is Area N in Ikorodu where citizens are arrested in Gestapo style and motor mechanics are regularly made to pay bribes on the spurious allegation of checking the particulars of vehicle brought for repair . The recent dismissal of some policemen in Area N seems to be sending the right signal ,they are now getting in form . At FIB located at the last floor of the Kam Salem , there is one Inspector there who is yellow in complexion in the office of the Head of the FIB, he seems not to get the message clear. he should be put under surveillance to make him get into form.
In the formation outside Lagos. the message is not well taken. policemen are getting more corrupt and daring . They dont even understand the original concept in policing ,which is peaceful mediation . The first point of contact is the signing of detention order. they would complicate the process of bail until you are frustrated . Once it's a bailable offence nothing stop the police from arranging the bail once the statement is taken .
I was at the police station in Sanyo Ibadan by Soka area sometimes ago, the way the citizens ate treated was as if the whole population are criminal. Simple case of assault between family are escalated and the suspect denied bail . In the statiom whatever may be the crime once you are the complainant you are right and given the royal seat .
The DPO who is from Benin is civil but the boys are not put in check . Once you are made to seat behind the counter the ladies will approach you to pay some amount for holding you captive , The officers speak rudely at times when taking statementso the point of slapping suspects mostly those who are illiterates. There is a woman in the station called Alhaja ,she supposed to have been retired over 20 years ago, the woman will handle civil case and tell you the police are empower to handle such , debt collection and matters beyond police is her business ,very dirty and always sleeping .The Inspector General of police should send undercover agents to mix with the guys and see their modus operandi. By and large the message is not fully into the bloodstream of the entire police ,but we must give credit to the Present IG for a unique job of repositioning the police . NGO should moved into the various states and mobilise the citizens in the local language on their rights. Bail should be made available without necessarily detaining people to get money . Yes, the police are improving but I hope Buhari resumes in time to further ginger the swagger . More kudos to the IG

Nigeria Police is not corrupt more than many average Nigerian will do if they find themselves in the police.

The police uniform do not corrupt, else it is fellow citizens like me and you who find their way into police that are corrupt.

Corruption in the police is a child's play when compared with what goes o in the judiciary, government ministries, MDAS, religious houses, education institutions, customs, ports etc

Many who are quick to assert that the police are corrupt are worse thiefs in their work places.

Finally Nigeria police has been the only institution that has mechanism to check and bring to book it's erring members unlike many other corrupt institutions who sweeps misconduct by their officials under carpet.

Wonder why Nigerians can't comprehend simple things : what the NPF press releases is saying is that this was done before the current IG took over.
The current IG is doing the best to rid police of bad elements and ensure a more professional body .He has develop and implemented a lot of systemic change to ensure police are more professional in their job and less corrupt . This is really the case .
Am not a policeman but I can see that there is improvement in police behavior though there is room for improvement. The PCRRU is a clear example of some changes designed to rid police of bad elements
We hope that this NBS exercise would be repeated
next year and compare to that of 2016.

Many Nigerians, our corruption in our offices, market places, religious houses, school, banks, insurance companies and general places of work will make the Nigerian Police a saint.

Let's stop deceiving ourselves, a society will only have a police force that mirrors it's values.

When we say police is corrupt, what do we say of the Executive, Judiciary, Legislative, Religious houses, local governments, Transport Unions, Market Unions, Customs, CDAs.... unending list

It is this same society that through corruption politicise, circumvent and compromise recruitment of upright citizens into the police.

The ones at Ojodu Berger, Iyagoku in Ibadan, SARS officials roaming the street of challenge, New garage, Orita, all in Ibadan are not just corrupt, but Worse than being corrupt. They stop you for no reason and ask you to move down to their office. Even though if your hands are clean, you are released later, but they would have successfully wasted at least 3 hours of your time. The way they go unchecked, I do not even know if there is a commissioner of police in OYo State. The federal SARS at dugbe will threaten you with all forms of torture and EFCC until you drop something, even when you're not found wanting. Sincerely, police is and can never ever ever be a friend to a common man.
