bixton:

You keep mentioning german floor repeatedly. What I mentioned is for the walls alone(where blocks run). And I know all the reasons for it. Now as regards the concrete thickness he can choose to do a minimum of 4" thickness

There are lots of less economical approach to the subject matter. It's all a matter of choice.
@bold1 can u be more explicit sir?

@bold2 This is the least economical approach to german flooring, how else do u solve capilary rise outside concrete capping?

Hope u don't get irked by the debate sir, as we are learning... smiley

@bold2 With his size of building,4" thickness is the maximum going by architectural standard. People do 3".

Building a house:
Based on the topography of your land your foundation depth is 600mm (bungalows) and +900mm(storey building, etc, etc.)
Blinding 150mm thickness(standard) done with cement+sharp sand+granite with appropriate mix ratio.
Raise blocks to desired dpc level (take into consideration the height of existing access road).
In certain instances we use concrete mix to fill the block form work (first block from ground) before raising to desired dpc level.

If you do all these well without cutting corners you have no reason to worry for capillary rise affecting your structure.

The other less economical options are considered for low cost housing projects and not for this thread.

Hi @all does anybody has a good Naija website for doors i am now doing doors hunting and doing a comparism between the doors here and in Naija.
Skimanski doors would have fitted perfectly into my concept but they are somewhat too pricey for me grin but if he is willing to negotiate i can call him up on that.

Though skimanski's doors seems pricey, they are premium doors which I believe will stand the test of time, you can Holla him and see if he can give you concession as a member of this forum,

First, 3rolls of coaxial TV cable is much for a 5bedroom flat
1bundle of 20mm dignity pipe is also expensive @ d rate of 11,000. or is he using GI pipe?

The price of cables are okay provided he's using Original cable.

Wait let me go and research from London school of metallurgy ,will keep you updated soon,Just like finding out the diffrence between custard and Akamu,

Well from my own thought line , I don't think there is much diffrence ,the only thing you look out for is the thickness -0.45mm,.055,0.70mm and so on,the range of 0.45mm and 0.55mm are more suitable for residential build while higher(0.7mm,0.90mm) are used for industrial builds,

As for the metcoppo the only issue is I feel it has is that its prone to leakages at the cropped edges and installation needs to be done by an experienced person .
