Great. Incentives increases the strength of students and workers. Nigeria and Nigerians should learn how to use incentives to encourage hardwork in the University.
This post is part of the problem with Nigeria. You are basically saying we should bribe people to go to school or pay people too excel?

Even in developed countries nobody will give you a blank cheque just because u are the best graduating student. What value does her degree add to any organization or company? Shows like BBA or BBN rakes in millions of dollars for the sponsors, courtesy of the contestants.

To be frank, i dont like reading somtin like dis cos e dey give me heartbreak. Its a good tin dat the two best graduating students were rewarded. At least someone somewere remembered dem.

The only tin dat surprises me about dis life is the difrent rewards of piple. For example, the students spent more than 6years studying a course and was given 500k......EFE did not stay upto 5months and he won 25million. WHAT A WORLD WE LIVE IN smiley

KBK Foundation has put a smile on the face of the Best Graduating medical student from UNN after promising her a whopping sum of N500,000.

Ikekpeazu Chidinma, who emerged as the Best Graduating Medical student from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka will be celebrating now after a Nigerian non-Governmental Organization promised gave her N500,000 for her feat.

Chidinma was given a token of N10,000 allegedly by GTB for her feat. Many people had condemned the bank for not appreciating the woman the right way. GTB came out and denied giving her such an amount.

However, kbkfoundation has given her N500 for her outstanding performance.

500k self...the bread seller got far more than this.if I come to this part of the world again I'd rather be a mechanic than to waste all those years in school in a Country where school cert carries equal weight as a bachelor's degree.
can't imagine 10k!!!,that unilag guy that had perfect Cgpa almost never got a reward.
anyway,I if you do well, you do well for ur self.
Gone are those days when about 5 firms are already throwing automatic offer at you right on your convocation day plus the govt is offering you scholarship+employment, even your school has already given you a lecturing option.
Well, Ayodele Dada got benefits from the school, her alumni, individuals and corporate organisations. Same Dada got five offers from MNCs. So you are wrong.

Additionally, it's illogical to expect the rewards best graduating students to be same with entertainment contestants. As the latter is sponsored by private firms and they reserve the right to peg any award they desire to give out. There's no law anywhere that stipulates the best graduating student must be handsomely rewarded for doing well. Nowhere!! Even the Mathematics Olympiad does not.

You should understand the rewarding of entertainment artists is simple economics not philanthropy. Why should Airtel or MTN award someone who has not brought profits to the firm? They are not charities. She has done well for herself and family but that does not correlate to awarding huge sums when it's not profitable to anyone, unless for philanthropic purposes.

Kim K probably earns more than most Nobel prize winners. Does that diminish their value and contributions to the world? No! It's simple economics. Education is good but the rewards are not same with entertainment as it's dictated by economics.

I think you're missing the point... you know scholarships are given to the best students to encourage them... is that bribe? Isn't that also paying people to excel?

It's no mean feat to be the top of your class in medicine. She did that without financial incentive, but if 500k can help encourage others to aspire, then what is wrong with that? It's a lot better than aspiring to be a slay queen. Kudos to the NGO. People are even abusing the amount of money as small, knowing full well that 500k can transform their lives.

It's something... and comparing countries, 1 footballer by name Neymar got contract over 200 million pounds for running and kicking ball. Yet the average salary for experienced doctors in UK is about 100 thousand pounds. Meaning Europe values one ball kicker the same as 2000 life savers.

Education is not valued in this country. Study where they know your worth. You still have the opportunity of studying abroad.

Scholarship is still open for interested candidates.
